There’s something about the Adler after dark.

The architecture gets moodier, the candlelight hits differently, and every detail feels a little more cinematic. For this celebration, Food For Thought brought the experience together with a menu and hospitality that felt just as considered as the setting.

I went to high tea not knowing who I’d see, and the tea came in test tubes.

You smell each one, pick your favorite, and they time the steep with little sand timers. Very elegant science fair.

@vanillechicago is female-owned, right on Clark in Lincoln Park, and the private room has a chandelier I would like to take home.

Three courses, champagne, and a croissant I’m still thinking about. The macarons are some of the best in the city.

If you’re vegetarian or gluten-free, they’ve thought about you. They brought me my own trays with a real version of everything, not a plate of cucumber sandwiches and good luck.

At 56, I’m saying yes to things I might have skipped a few years ago. This one came with champagne and new friends.

Spent the most lovely afternoon at @vanillechicago for afternoon tea! 🫖✨

From the dozens of loose-leaf teas (and the cutest little tea timer to get your brew just right 👌🏼) to the award-winning French pastries and that cauliflower, blue cheese & pear soup… everything was absolute perfection!

Reconnected with familiar faces, made new friends, and I’m already planning my next visit with my mother-in-law when she’s in town next month. 🤍
