This event was deeply meaningful to me, both as a therapist on the front lines of suicide prevention, and as a human whose life has been deeply and forever affected by suicide loss.

I haven’t posted anything for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this year. Not because it doesn’t matter to me, but because it matters so much that I haven’t been able to find the words.

Maybe the words don’t have to be perfect. I’ll just say this:
The world is a better place with you in it.
Your story is still being written.
There are people you haven’t met yet who will be grateful you stayed and moments ahead that will remind you why you did.
Please stay. 🤍

sometimes i forget that this used to only exist in my head.

i knew what i wanted KAGE to feel like before i ever knew what it would become. i believed in it so deeply that failure honestly never felt like an option. but no matter how big i dreamed, i couldn’t have dreamed up the people, the community.

some of the faces on this rooftop have been here since the days when it was just me teaching every class and figuring everything out as i went. now i look around and see our instructors, our clients, friendships that exist because of this place and a community that continues to show up for themselves and each other.

there’s something emotional about realizing that an idea that meant so much to you somehow started meaning something to other people too.

KAGE may have started as my dream, but we built this together. every instructor who pours themselves into this place, every client who keeps showing up, and every person who believed in it along the way.

you guys gave my dream a heartbeat.

i have a hard time feeling proud of myself sometimes. but looking around that rooftop, surrounded by all of you, i let myself feel it. how far we’ve come. how much this means to me. how fucking proud i am of what we’ve built.

holy shit. i did this. we did this.

so if there’s something inside of you that you can’t stop thinking about, please don’t ignore it just because it feels too big or because nobody else can see it yet.

you don’t need to know exactly how it’s going to happen. you just need enough courage to start and enough belief in yourself to keep going when it gets hard.

take the risk. make the thing. chase the ridiculous idea. do it scared, do it differently, do it your way…KAGE HALLELUJAH 🤍
