Today, we are spotlighting Nancy VanKanegan, one of our Woman Made member artists! Nancy has been a maker her entire life, beginning with drawings and paintings of plants and wildlife from her rural Illinois childhood. Her degrees in art, certifications in yoga, and passion for travel have shaped her activities and her art. As a mother of two artists, she has experienced the gift of exploring possibilities. Balancing her need to create with her family’s needs has taught her discernment and how to manage energy. Her past experiences serve as a map for her future. Nancy believes all challenges can be addressed with creative imagination. Creating art unlocks the freedom of endless possibilities. Thank you Nancy for your dedication as a member! #NancyVanKanegan #womanmadegallery #womanmade #chicagoart

Call for art donations! We are starting to collect items for our benefit art sale to cover the balance of a huge vet bill our friend and fellow-potter @alma_de_aztlan paid to bring her sweet new dog Quetzal back to health! This color block cappuccino mug and raku vase by me, along with this lovely handbuilt mandala bowl by @vankanegan will be available in October! If you are an artist in Chicago or the US and would like to donate a piece to help raise money to cover Quetzal’s vet bills, please dm me or write me at ceramicarchives@gmail . com with a photo of the piece, dimensions, and price by September 29! Our art sale will go live in October! The backstory: A local shelter did not know how sick Quetzal was, but Esmeralda did as soon as she brought her home. Esmeralda paid $7000 in vet bills in the first week after adopting her new companion, including four nights in the ER for a severe case of pneumonia. The shelter agreed to cover some of the cost, but $2000 is the remaining balance that we hope to raise for this fundraiser! We are reaching out to local artists to have a benefit sale that will help our friend focus on healing after this scary ordeal, instead of worrying about debt! Reach out and spread the word!

Great show with great work by an awesome human. This work quietly surprises you with it's underlying spiritual nature and the pairings of paintings and vessels in this show is amazing! You should go and see it for yourself. The show is up until March 30th.
