What a great weekend ! My heart is so full ! thank you everyone for being a part of my birthday and sendoff Here’s what I was going to say yesterday but I couldn’t find a good time. ***PLEASE READ*** “if I’m being honest, patriotism wasn’t what was driving my decision to see the deployment through. It’s the commitment I have to the soldiers standing to my left and right. We’ve become a family. Where they go, I go. That’s why I’m deploying. Not because I necessarily believe in or agree with what’s going on in our country and the world, but because I refuse to let these men and women walk into uncertainty without me beside them. And to the families here tonight, whatever your feelings are about this deployment, these people are not symbols. They’re your sons and daughters, your husbands, your wives, your parents, your friends. They’re ordinary people carrying extraordinary responsibilities. If this moment makes you think deeply about the decisions that send young Americans into harm’s way, stay engaged. Stay informed. Keep asking questions. Be part of the future you want to see. But tonight is about these people. Tonight is about the families who are sacrificing right alongside us. Tonight is about the bond we share in this room. And before we leave, I wanna leave everyone with one challenge. Make our next conversation exciting. For us, this next year will be like time travel. It might feel like time stands still, but for all of you, life keeps moving. Don’t put your life on pause because we’re gone. Let today be your starting line. Set a goal. Chase it with everything you’ve got. Lose the weight, get stronger, start the business, go back to school, build your family, learn a new skill, become the person you’ve always wanted to become. Because when we come home, I don’t want our first conversation to be about how another year just slipped by. I wanna hear about everything you accomplished, how you grew. We’ll come home with experiences that change us. My hope is that you’ll be able to say the same. Make our next conversation exciting. I can’t wait to hear what you’ve accomplished in a year. Thank you. We’ll see you when we get home.”
