#worldmentalhealthday ❤️

It’s no coincidence that this showed up as a memory from our archive today!

The @pixeldonate campaign, a purpose-driven not for profit public art project we co-founded in 2021, integrated technology with art, allowing viewers to scan QR codes at Granville & West Georgia #downtownvancouver to unlock Augmented Reality (AR) features that make the artwork come alive via smartphones.

• 2021 Inaugural Mural: The first iteration was brought to life by Hong Kong-born Canadian visual artist and illustrator Andrea Wan @andrea_wan.

• 2022 Iteration (“Breathe”): The second annual installation partnered with the Vancouver Mural Festival Winter Arts Fest. Titled “Breathe”, this installment was designed by 2 Spirit xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and Tsimshian artist Chase Gray @gaysalishart. It beautifully synthesized 3,400 donor-submitted pixels into the final imagery and an additional container installation subsequently at @winterartsfest located at @vanartgallery

📈 Fundraising & Healthcare Impact

Over its two-year run, the Pixel Moments campaign raised a combined total of $460,000 in donations, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind support. 100% of the campaign proceeds directly fund mental health programs and localized care initiatives at St. Paul’s Hospital @helpstpauls and interconnected Providence Health Care @providencehealthcare facilities.

Today is the perfect day to remind us of all the people who gave so much to this project that is still making lasting impact several years after.

10 years of Public Disco ☻

A decade of block parties, open-air gatherings, sunny afternoons, late nights, new friends, familiar faces, and so many moments we’ll never forget.

For 10 years, we’ve believed in the power of music, public space, and people coming together to make Vancouver feel a little more connected. From our first gatherings to the many places we’ve taken the dance floor since, this community has been at the heart of it all.

Thank you to every DJ, artist, collaborator, volunteer, partner, and especially everyone who has shown up and danced with us over the years. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped shape this community.

Join us for our final Summer Block Party of the season this Saturday, August 29.
