Today I’m celebrating Wojtek’s Bistro: Recipes from a Polish Kitchen 🥄

I met @vanportek last Christmas at a lovely dinner with my friend @philipparatcliffespringman. Wojtek was impeccably dressed in a beautiful kilt and jacket, his luxurious black beard teased to perfection. We spent the evening in fits of laughter and connection, so it was with real joy that I dived into his recipes.

Written in homage to his grandmother and her vegetable garden, the book is every bit as vibrant as Wojtek himself.

One recipe called out to me on my very first read-through: cherry tomato and butter pasta. That marriage of tomatoes and dairy took me straight back to my mother’s simple tomatoes on toast. Thickly sliced tomatoes, fried in copious amounts of yellow butter until blistered and tending to mushy (a must), seasoned very generously with sea salt and coarse black pepper, then piled high on hot buttered toast. An absolute delight, and one that needs no fancy additions like basil or even chilli.

I made Wojtek’s recipe with a motley crew of homegrown tomatoes, adding just a rind of parmesan as they reduced to a thick sauce. Deeply savoury, utterly comforting and enormously satisfying.

Two Labradors, one sofa, an abundance of cushions… and quintessential British nonchalance

The true stars of this series, the two Labradors of @turveyhouse take the lead role with disarming ease : stretched out among the fabrics, settled on the mattresses, posing with a poise many models would envy.

Around them, a beautiful @houseandgardenuk feature, shot in the middle of a July heatwave for the October Decoration Issue, in this historic Bedfordshire setting where colours, patterns and textiles come to life. A series that also marks @vanportek very first cover for the magazine.

Behind the camera, @mark_anthony_fox captured these moments with wit and spontaneity, while @vanportek’s styling gives our two heroes a playground as bold as it is elegant. Their custom cushions and mattresses were made by @amygreenstudio , with @dpandeycn , @millliemos, @tulsithomas and @gwenbrownmakesthings, under the trusting eye of @interiorseditor.

Two days, one heatwave, around a hundred cushions… and two dogs perfectly at home in the middle of it all.

And really, who could resist these two four-legged models ?

Working backwards, a very busy week here for the JW team - awards shows, trade shows, celestial skies and installs.

Thank you to @houseandgardenuk and @designetal for putting on two wonderful celebrations of the Interior Design world. We were particularly proud of our glorious leader (OGL) for winning the Lifetime achievement award at the International Hotel and Property Awards, and looking very sparkly whilst doing it.

We are incredibly proud and honoured to announce that The Zetter Bloomsbury has been awarded @houseandgardenuk Hotel Design of the Year.

Designing a hotel with this level of detail was a true labour of love for our entire team. I feel incredibly lucky to have such creative and talented people working alongside me, and this award is a wonderful reflection of their dedication, care and craft.

@dsanddurga took over @climaxbooks’ London flagship for the first UK installment in their Perfume Clubbing series for the launch of AIN’T THAT SWEET, the new gourmand for people who don’t wear gourmands.

D.S. & DURGA celebrated the new perfume, which is inspired by the possibilities of young love in NYC in the early ‘00s, with a night of readings by writers @bertiebrandes, @beebeardsworth and @matteo.p.i.n.i paying homage to romance, perfume and dessert.

AIN’T THAT SWEET is now available at Liberty London and Cult Beauty.
