Hi everyone! 👋 My name is Emma, and I’m so excited to have joined the team here at Hex PTP as a Physical Therapist over the past month!

I grew up playing softball for Team PA and went on to play Division I softball at Towson University before earning my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duquesne University.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting.

My passion is working with athletes… and that includes all levels, from adults pursuing fitness and performance goals to baseball and softball athletes looking to stay healthy and performing at their best.

I’m excited to continue to bring my experience as both an athlete and a physical therapist to the team and help athletes of all levels keep doing what they love! 💪🏋️‍♀️⚾️🥎

Full disclosure: I am getting paid $0 for this! Invoice is in the mail, @armoreau @flexprogrip !!

Most guys think forearm training starts and ends with dead hangs and heavy deadlifts. The FlexPro Grip is built to actually isolate and load the specific muscles that control finger flexion, finger extension, and ulnar/radial deviation of the wrist. Not only that, but it accurately quantifies your strength and rate of force development (hello spin rate) so that you can reliably measure progress or readiness day to day.

Why does this matter for throwers specifically? Muscles like the flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor digitorum profundus are doing a huge chunk of the work to handle the massive forces endured from layback to release. Strong, well-trained finger flexors help offload stress from the UCL during the throw. If your fingers and forearm muscles/tendons aren’t pulling their weight, your UCL ends up picking up the slack.

The FPG isnt exclusively a rehabilitation device. It can also improve your spin rate. You don’t need more velocity to spin the ball better; you need to apply force to the ball faster in that split second before release. Train the fingers to fire faster, and the spin rate follows.

Stop treating your grip work as an accessory and make it a priority.

“My PT wants ot change my throwing mechanics”

Hearing this gives me the heebie jeebies. NO, not because I think I am the ONLY person who is qualified to do this. Because coaching is freaking hard!! Coaching somebody to throw a baseball is even harder!

PTs, in general, are not formally trained in how to improve throwing mechanics. Just because you’re a self-labeled “baseball PT” does not mean that you should be magically trusted to alter somebody’s throwing mechanics.

Either refer out to a pitching coach, training facility, or to another PT that is actually equipped to coach throwers :)
