I made some photographs at Prithvi Theatre, moments before the cast and crew performed Pyaar Aadmi Ko Kabootar Bana Deta Hai, an Aranya play written and directed by Manav Kaul. The play had opened at the Prithvi Theatre Festival 2024, and is a fun musical of what happens to a group of friends when they fall in love.

Pyaar Aadmi Ko Kabootar Bana Deta Hai returns to the Prithvi stage on Saturday, 20 June.

Happy World Theatre Day ❤️

These photographs are from backstage during our recent run of ‘Pyaar Aadmi Ko Kabutar Bana Deta Hai’ at Prithvi Theatre.

Even now, I get a rush just thinking about stepping onto that stage on any given day… uff, what a beautiful feeling.

The Prithvi green room holds something magical. Every time I get ready there, I’m filled with gratitude, knowing that so many legends have stood in the same space, preparing, dreaming. It reminds me to stay honest, stay hungry, and keep showing up with truth… no matter what.

And somewhere along the way, the people you meet here slowly become family… the kind you trust deeply. They make existing in this ecosystem even more special, even more meaningful. ❤️

A special shoutout to the creative teams involved in the making of ‘Lime Tikka’ - an intergalactic original presentation by EXCISE DEPT, featuring music by Baalti and Lapgan | ‘Lime Tikka’ tells the story of Satellite Kaur, a young girl determined to launch herself into space after she learns that her birth miraculously coincided with the crash landing of a satellite in her village.

There were no art companies hired; Installation artists Rohini (@romaitiofficial )and Aman (@amanbajaj.wav ) BUILT an entire array of retrofuturistic equipment for Satellite, including her final “blastoff” shuttle, on site, in a mere two days. Our assistant directors Sadia(@ninj.ette), Sankalp (@sankalpkapur )and Karan, meanwhile, sculpted Satellite’s world, the clothes, the environments our characters live inside.

Having never worked with an extensive post-production team before, we relied heavily on Vrajesh(@vrajeshpithadia ), Ansh(@chandparaaa ), Himanshu (@himanshu.z_ )and Asna(@asnakhan96 ), who breathed life into the project with their beautiful VFX and colour treatment!

Kunal(@kunalpasalkar ), Khushal and Saarth(@aestheticbaba )made Admal, Lavasa and the surrounding valley our home for a few days, helping us locate Satellite’s story in places of intrigue and inspiration; abandoned petrol pumps, sweeping view points, the Dasave government school. And all of this made possible by Glenn(@__maddy__maddy__maddy__ ), our incredible Line Producer and the beating heart of the production machinery behind Satellite!

For the better part of 2025, we worked on a commissioned short film / music video project for the track ‘Lime Tikka’ by @baalti.mp3 and @lapganlapgan . The story of ‘Skylab’ — a rural legend from the late 70s, of an American satellite that was fated to crash in India — had been gnawing away at us since 2021, as many peculiar tall tales from around this country often do. Once we were approached, we knew that our modified version of ‘Skylab’ could finally find a home—and that this was something only the collective brain of @excisedept could do justice to, with its particularly unhinged form of creativity and foolhardiness.

We spent a few short weeks scouting locations, writing a script, casting the incredibly talented (@vanyaswords) Vanya, (@gurdevart )Gurdev and ( @nainasareen )Naina, assembling a crew of our dear friends, and setting off to a small village deep in the Maharashtrian ghats to shoot with no phone signal. The closest town, Lavasa, provided a backdrop of abandoned luxury villas and ghostly parking structures—weird, mummified dreams of rural re-development and western aspiration.

In the scorching March heat, we shuttled from location to location in a convoy of Chota Haathi trucks and small cars, slowly carving out this ambitious, 8 minute journey of a short film and music video. We watched everyone contribute tirelessly, with love and dedication. We wrote and directed and shot and produced and post-produced this beast! We grew immensely, and are proud to share a piece of our hearts with everyone, sonically blessed by Baalti and Lapgan’s music. A document of growth, of LOVE, of youth and creativity and cosmic beauty! Watch Lime Tikka on Youtube now!
