Mercedes Castro Lomas, a Madrid-based painter and draughtswo-man, is featured in issue 43 of Art-mosphere with a series of seascapes rendered in ink on paper. in this body of work, the artist unfolds a collection of scenes that evoke imaginary coastlines and oceanic landscapes that could belong to any place on the planet-or to none at all.
Her compositions, built through a fluid and precise line, capture both the calm and the force of the marine environment, where water, horizon, and natural forms exist in quiet balance. The ink, applied with subtlety, creates light, immersive atmospheres filled with nuance and movement.
Each work becomes a space for con-templation, where the real and the imagined merge into a serene and evocative vision. In this new series, Mercedes Castro Lomas reaffirms a mature and free artistic voice, capable of transforming landscape into a universal poetic experience, always executed with a technique she masters with sensitivity and precision. @mercedes_castro_lomas back cover @artmosphere_artmagazine issue 42 front cover by @svetlanakompel

There’s something powerful about work that doesn’t try to be perfect.

This piece by Juan Carlos Vargas feels almost like a collision - calm and chaos meeting in one moment. The soft, almost broken white against that intense, burning red… it’s not just colour, it’s tension. It feels physical. You can almost feel the texture just by looking at it.

That’s what makes his work so compelling. It’s not decorative - it’s expressive. It holds emotion, movement, and imperfection in a way that makes a space feel alive.

And that’s the beauty of artists like Vargas.
They don’t just create something to look at - they create something you respond to.

This is the kind of piece that doesn’t sit quietly in a room. It creates it and elevates it.
