Two years ago, I bought the camera that changed everything for me: a Leica M6. I’d experimented with film before, but this was the beginning of a journey that completely changed the way I see the world.

Over the past two years, I’ve shot hundreds of rolls. I made mistakes, ruined negatives, underexposed bright scenes, struggled through developing, learned the hard way, and slowly fell in love with the entire process. Every mistake became part of the journey.

What keeps bringing me back isn’t nostalgia.

It’s presence.

When I shoot film, I’m completely in the moment. There isn’t a screen between me and what I’m experiencing. No instant preview. No endless cycle of checking, correcting and taking “just one more.” It’s just me, the camera, the light, and the person or place in front of me.

Film forces me to slow down. To trust myself. To observe more carefully. To wait for the right moment instead of trying to create it afterwards.

And then comes the magic.

Waiting for the negatives to come back never gets old. Every single roll feels like opening a gift. Even after hundreds of rolls, that first look at the scans still gives me goosebumps. Film has a feeling I still struggle to describe. The colors, the imperfections, the softness, the depth… it doesn’t just document a moment, it preserves how it felt.

Most of the photographs in this reel were made with my Leica M6, mainly paired with a 35mm Summilux. A few were captured with my Hasselblad 500CM—a camera I was fortunate enough to inherit from photographer Hans Baumann, who introduced me to analog photography before he sadly passed away. Every time I use it, I think of him.

Film photography has become far more than a hobby. It has become a way of slowing down, paying attention, and truly experiencing the world around me.
