👻 Spooky Skate Camp Recap 👻

We had a blast last Saturday at our annual Spooky Skate Camp presented by @varsityskateboarding

#skatecamp #skatepark #skateboardingisfun #skatelife

I am so thankful for these skate instructors and volunteers who gave their time to create a great experience for our skate campers.

Thank you @fitmjc for leading us in warm up stretches and tune up some of our instructors.

Everybody loved our shirts from @customgraphics_kc
We packed out the skatepark at @grandviewparks

After some quick stretches we got our campers into their groups and started our group skate instruction.

We even had some future little skateboarders watching on the sidelines.

We have loved seeing all the girls who have started skateboarding. We keep seeing more girl skaters show up every camp.

This feeling when you land a new trick is what this is all about. 🙌🏻

Our instructors did an incredible job teaching from the basics to intermediate skateboard tricks.

These campers had an absolute blast facing fears, learning new tricks, and meeting new friends.

We are so thankful for @life885 for providing music and helping us hyped up our campers for the day.

And our skate camp is never complete without our friends at @shakeshack 💚

After group instruction some custard from Shake Shack was exactly what we needed.

The line for custard is always long, but always worth it.

Our campers got to cheer on our instructors as they did a skateboard demonstration that ended with @tristanw1ght jumping over some brave volunteers.

Custard + Stickers are a combo these campers loved.

Thank you @powellperalta and @escapistskate for sponsoring our event. The kids loved the boards!

Thank you @zeroskateboards @adamarunski + @jamiethomas for sending these boards over. These three kids were SO STOKED to get some Zero decks. They wanted to set them up asap.

Campers got prizes all around! 🤙🏼

Thank you to every instructor, volunteer, skate camper, parent, sponsor, and vendor that helped make this a success.

🚨 SKATEBOARDERS WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨

Kansas City icon @patrickmahomes was recently seen wearing a @thrashermag x @adidasskateboarding jersey. 👀

We think that might mean he’s a fan of the culture of skateboarding.

If you didn’t know @patrickmahomes does a lot to serve the Kansas City community.

We are currently raising funds, grant writing, working with local businesses, and planning to build a world class action sports facility here in Kansas City.

We don’t care how long it takes. Our goal is to create a place for kids to enjoy skateboarding year round.

Unfortunately, we have to pause of programs every Fall and Winter due to the Midwest weather.

We have
- Given over 650 skateboards to kids
- Taught over 1,000 kids at free skate camps
- Provided over 14,000 lbs of food/water to our community
- Hosted over 350 outreach events

Those numbers look great. However we have 100’s of kids affected when we have to pause our programs.

We believe that if @patrickmahomes knew about the work we were doing, he would absolutely love to get involved.

But we need your help for him to see the work we’re doing here in Kansas City, and all over the world.

Comment @patrickmahomes on this post so that he will see it!

Thank you for joining the mission 🫡
