A DECADE OF SURU - @surufest

THEVIBE ADVENTURE

Longboards on mountain roads. Hands finding holds on granite. A little balance above the valley floor.

For ten years, Suru Fest @surufest has brought people together in Ladakh through a shared love of the outdoors. What began as a small gathering of climbers has grown into a community with its own rhythm, rooted in the Suru Valley and shaped by the people who call it home.

TheVibe has been witnessing Suru fest’s journey since its first edition—documenting the festival, featuring its stories across our shows and films, and watching this community find its footing. Growing alongside each other over the past decade makes this milestone especially close to us.

Congratulations to the founders, organisers, volunteers, local hosts and everyone who has helped build and sustain it. From welcoming visitors to supporting local livelihoods and caring for the landscape, so much of what makes Suru special happens beyond the sport.

Here’s to a decade of finding your people in the mountains—and to everyone keeping that spirit alive.

10 days of pure madness with multiple agencies involved and 2 units covering more than 20 villages to capture the essence of the campaign.

Thousands of gunny bags were hand printed and 30 painters were deployed to paint 10 walls and 3 trucks in an attempt to make digital communication more inclusive for the communities with limited access to text based messaging.

A huge shoutout to each and every team member involved in making this campaign successful.

@vasu_key ‘s - Kaivalya — कैवल्य — ಕೈವಲ್ಯ — is a meditative exploration of consciousness through the lens of AI.

Rooted in ancient yogic philosophy and inspired by Vasuki’s own meditation experiences, the film visualizes Kaivalya - a state of pure awareness, untouched by thought, matter, or identity.

No human faces appear - only symbolic animal forms, reflecting the many facets of human nature within stillness. To elevate the emotion, Vasuki paired the visuals with @glass_beams acoustics, creating a haunting rhythm that deepens the sense of transcendence.

A deeply personal vision where philosophy, emotion, and technology converge to mirror the inner self.

With TheVibe Studios having moved to Bengaluru we wanted to get digging into the local culture and explore a carnival of sorts, and it so happened that our home boy @vasu_key was going with his wifey @ashvini_ghatikar to her village in Gulbarga to attend the local Mela. During his visit he got us back these beautiful frames for us to enjoy!

The “Well of Death” at the Sharana Basaveshwara Jaatra fair in Gulbarga is a significant attraction that draws crowds every year in April. This fair, dedicated to the saint Sharana Basaveshwara, is a vibrant celebration of culture, spirituality, and community.
