Where world-class medicine meets hometown care.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Mahalo to everyone who joined us yesterday morning at Kapiʻolani Regional Park for the 36th annual PetWalk: A Josie’s ʻOhana Event! Whether you walked with your pets, cheered from the sidelines, lent a hand at a tent or joined from home as a Lazy Dog or Sleepy Cat, you showed up for Oʻahu’s animals, and what you raised will help us care for the 13,000 animals who come through our doors each year.

Yesterday’s walk around the park celebrated the bond we share with our pets and the community that shows up for animals in need. From the morning stretch to the last lap with your four-legged (three- or two-legged) ʻohana, every step was a reminder that caring for animals is something we do together.

PetWalk would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and donors:

Jake got invited to his first Halloween party and we’re trying to decide which costume is the best for him. This is costume number one, but I don’t think he’s really into it. 😂😂#americanpitbullterrier #dogmom #dogmomlife #rescuedog #halloween @petcolove @petco @vca @vcacharities @spokhumanesoc @embarkvet @mywoof

Not all superheroes wear capes... ours wear scrubs, stethoscopes, and a whole lot of compassion. ❤️🐾

This week, we celebrated our incredible Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistant teams who are the heart of our hospital here at @vcaalamedaeast

Every day they help comfort frightened patients, supporting families through difficult moments, assisting in life-saving procedures, monitoring anesthesia, running diagnostics, advocating for those who can’t speak, and doing countless things behind the scenes.

Our superhero theme was a reminder of what we’ve always known:
Heroes don’t need superpowers. They need knowledge, compassion, teamwork, and the courage to show up, every single day.

Thank you for the long shifts, the quick thinking, the gentle hands, the late nights, the victories you celebrate, and the losses you carry with grace. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of every patient and every family who walks through our doors.

You are part of why this hospital is able to provide exceptional care.

💙 Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week to our amazing team—you are our everyday superheroes.

10-year well visit is in the books! 💙 I’m a healthy boy. Despite feeling betrayed by my mom when our car ride brought us to the vet (see second picture) … I ended on a great note by taking a not so spooky pic! 👻 🎃

Thank you, @vcaflanneryanimalhospital for keeping me happy and healthy!

This is a fun community event! 🎃
The Pawrents go all out and dress up their 4-legged kids. All are welcomed, with or without a costume. 👻
We'll be at the Temecula Promenade, in front of the Edwards Theater, 10-1.
Lots of great raffles, donated by the vendors, will be up for grabs.
All proceeds will benefit @animalfriendsofthevalleys - extra special to me because that's where I found my Allie.
Reminder, SALE, buy 2 regular bandanas and get a free holiday bandana.
Until next time, Stay Golden 💛

A few moments from our Vet Tech Career Panel!

This event was also a chance to celebrate our RVTs for Veterinary Technician Week and recognize all the knowledge, skill, and heart they bring to veterinary medicine!

Thank you to our panelists for sharing your experiences, answering our questions, and giving us a look at the different paths we can take in this field. It means so much to learn from and celebrate the professionals who are helping us become the next generation of vet techs.

Thank you to VCA for sponsoring lunch and bringing goodie bags for everyone and to all the students who came! We hope you had a great time, got your questions answered, and left feeling excited about the opportunities ahead. We’re so glad you joined us!

Emergencies always catch us off guard. But the difference between panic and staying calm often comes down to having a properly stocked first-aid kit. 🐾🩹
In the carousel, you’ll find a clear checklist of what every pet owner should have at home—and keep in the car trunk when traveling. No unnecessary clutter, just the essentials.

🚨 Golden rules for a veterinary first-aid kit:
1️⃣ Never administer human medications on your own!
Common human painkillers or anti-inflammatories (such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin, etc.) are lethally toxic to dogs. Always consult your veterinarian beforehand regarding specific medications and their correct dosages.
2️⃣ Use only water-based antiseptics.
Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and brilliant green (antiseptic dye) can damage and burn tissues, slowing down the healing process.

3️⃣ Check expiration dates.
Review the contents every 6 months: discard expired items and restock what’s needed.

4️⃣ Keep contact information in plain sight.
Your veterinarian’s phone number and the address of the nearest 24-hour clinic should be kept not just on your phone, but also clearly visible inside the first-aid kit itself.

📌 Save this post so you can put together—or check—your first-aid kit this weekend!
