On our 15th LWD Summit, we had the pleasure of honoring the phenomenon that is @im.angelabassett.

She had just enough time to join us for our Dorothy Heights dinner where we presented her with our Butterfly Award, and listened to a conversation between herself and esteemed journalist / LWD sister @michele__norris

But not before we found a moment where a cluster of LWD sisters shared how Bassett’s roles impacted their lives and literally gave her her flowers 💐 ; leaving her with arms full of beautiful bouquets, a full heart and knowing just how much her work has impacted this community of black women.

Happy international women’s day! Today I celebrate sisterhood on this international women’s day. The power in sisterhood is a force to be reckoned with. It is not based on blood, but on connection that allows you to be you and do you unapologetically. It is that connection that lets you know there is nothing you can’t share with your sister, for she will listen to you without judgment. She understands the importance of you being seen, heard, valued, and supported. So I celebrate all the sisters in my life on today. A special shout out to my one and only biological sister (@trina.r.wigginsmd ) and my mom. These are my sisters in prayer (SIP’s)! This weekend we gathered at my home on Thursday night for our annual in person Bible study and then had our beautiful brunch at our SIP Simone‘s house on Saturday. It was an incredible few days led by our prophetic teacher who we all love, Rev Cordelia Wallace.

Our group was formed early in the pandemic via Zoom when we all were searching for a way to study God‘s word amongst our friends around the country. Once a week we come together and we are still going strong!! Thanks to our sister, Simone Smith, who was the brain child for it, we have an incredible sisterhood!! Love these ladies!!💜💙💜💙❤️❤️
