HEAVEN IS A DEEP DISH PIZZA 🍕

For my first visit to Chicago I had to try the famous deep dish pizza 🍕, a culinary obligation when you come to Chi Town.

However, this item of critical Chicago cultural cuisine used to be forbidden to me. Pizza is kryptonite to someone who’s been gluten and dairy free for fifteen years.

BUT, there’s a happy ending to this tale. The Foodie Gods have smiled upon me!

Thanks to the renowned @loumalnatis pizza PARLOR’s gluten free option, and my recent discovery that I can safely consume a certain amount of cheese 🧀, I was able to enjoy a proper pizza for the first time in a decade and a half.

The consensus? IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Last night's Cardio Body Sculpt class went smooth. As you can see this is the nice space I am working with and it is socially distant with enough space to exercise. Want in on the fun? Sign up for next Wednesday

2020 Blessings: Traveling Locally

Though it wasn’t the year in travel 🧳 I’d planned — I was supposed to visit and in some cases had tickets for Japan 🇯🇵, Iceland 🇮🇸, Sweden 🇸🇪, Romania 🇷🇴, South Africa 🇿🇦, and places both familiar & new across the USA 🇺🇸 — I learned to appreciate local day trips in my own extended backyard.

Before March 13 changed everything, we’d visited Columbus, OH, Atlantic City, NJ, and Tennessee.

Once the pandemic cut our six-week tour short, upon return we stayed home-bound until the major restrictions lifted.
Then we safely explored charming places around NY, NJ, and PA where we could enjoy new scenery outdoors.

Highlights include: Manhattan Beach, Piermont, Nyack, Bethel, & the Catskills in NY; Weehawken, Hoboken, Liberty Park, Asbury Park, & Long Branch in NJ; Lahaska & New Hope, PA.

While I can’t wait to see the wide world again, I’m incredibly grateful for these local day trips and have forged a new and welcome tradition of going local.

In a southeastern corner of Brooklyn, past Coney Island and Brighton Beach, there lies a little oasis called (oddly because it’s in Kings County), Manhattan Beach 🏖

Perhaps it was the rain ☔️ earlier in the day or the overcast skies, but the place was nearly deserted, making it all the better for a beachy BBQ 🍖 to celebrate the 34th birthday 🎁 of @vectorperfecter with friends & family.

For me it was a delightful chance to catch up with dear friends and make some new ones in a beautiful setting at golden hour where the fresh ocean 🌊 air was reviving and the company delightful! My fabulous new breathable @onzie mask 😷 kept me safe & chic too.

Many thanks and props to @rosegoldcartel for her exemplary efforts in making the day both magical and safe for all (once the BBQ was figured out and the possibility of explosions💥 ruled out!). It’s more of a local park than a crowded hotspot beach destination and the staff were really sweet. Those in NYC should check out this peaceful and relatively deserted gem before word gets out and crowds pour into its sandy shores!
