I brought home my 6th IPF Masters World Championship this past Sunday! 🥇🇺🇸

We stayed conservative because there was real competition from my counterpart to the north, @scott.robertsonpowerlifting. He’s a hell of a competitor and an even better guy.

Job 1: Bring home the gold in the 120kg M2 class. Mission accomplished. 🥇

Job 2: Break the deadlift World Record. Well, that didn’t go as planned. @tharris220 still holds that record and continues to live rent-free in my head. 🤣 Love you, brother!

Job 3: Win M2 Best Lifter. Had I pulled my final deadlift for the record, I would have also secured Best Lifter. Instead, I finished 3rd Overall Best Lifter.

Six world titles. Still chasing more. Still not satisfied.

Now for the people who make all of this possible.

Thank you to my training partner and fellow World Championship competitor @dr.hodo.phd. She took 3rd in her class earlier that day and still made it a priority to come back and cheer me on. She’s an amazing friend, and I’m incredibly grateful to have her in my corner.

Thank you to my meet-day coach @coach_patrickthomas. He and I have a complicated history, but I’ve always considered him a brother. Even if he still doesn’t understand what good music is! 😳

To my programming coach @thesuperheavymethod, thank you for continuing to evolve with me. We still have big performances ahead of us, and he and @westsidebarbellofficial are the engine that will get us there.

Thank you to @veganstrongteam and @plantbuilt for continually backing this old man in his pursuit to prove that being vegan doesn’t mean being weak! We do it for the animals. 🌱💪

To my wife @mel_oddbarbell, my partner in all of this. She’s always in my corner and does so much to keep our family and business moving forward. I wouldn’t have a single one of these titles without her in my life. Love you. ❤️

And to everyone at @odd_barbell and @ironsidetraining who sent their love and encouragement, you are all appreciated.

I’m one lucky cat to be able to live this life! 🥹

Vegan lifter Katya Gorbacheva is in fantastic strength just days before one of the biggest natural competitions of the year! The 75 kg raw lifter is moving some crazy weights for doubles and aiming to add to her silverware.

Now approaching ten years vegan, Katya says "I wouldn’t eat my dog. Why would I eat a pig? Why would anyone?”

🌎 私は、ヴィーガンという生き方が、地球を救うための大きな答えの一つだと信じている。

私のフリーポーズの曲は、Aerosmithの「I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing」。

映画『アルマゲドン』のテーマソングです。

地球を救うために命を懸ける人々。
そして、父と娘の深い絆。

私はこの映画が大好きです。

この曲を選んだのは、私自身も本気で🌏地球を救いたいと願っているから。

🐂🐏動物たちを救いたい。
飢餓に苦しむ人々を救いたい。
地球環境を守りたい。
そして、人間自身の健康も守りたい。

ヴィーガンという生き方は、それらすべてを網羅すると私は思っています。

🌱 なぜ、ヴィーガンが地球に優しいのか。

畜産は、世界の温室効果ガス排出の一因です。

家畜からのメタン排出、飼料の生産、森林伐採、土地や水の利用。

特に牛肉や乳製品を多く生産するためには、膨大な資源が必要になります。

植物性食品を中心とした食生活へ移行することは、温室効果ガスの排出を減らし、土地や水などの資源への負荷を軽減する可能性があります。

そして、世界には今も飢餓に苦しむ人々がいます。

人間が食べるための家畜を育てるには、飼料となる穀物や土地が必要です。

動物を肥育するのではなく、そのための穀物をみんなで分配すれば、計算上では飢餓はなくなると言われています。

もちろん、世界の飢餓には貧困、紛争、さまざまな原因があります。

それでも、限りある地球の資源を何に使うのか。

私たち一人ひとりが考える必要があると思うのです。

動物たちの命。
地球環境。
食料資源。
人間の健康。

これらは、それぞれ別の問題ではありません。

すべてがつながっているのです。

私たちは今、食べ物があふれる時代に生きています。

それなのに、食料が足りず命を落とす人がいる一方で、食べ過ぎや食生活の乱れが健康問題につながることもある。

私は、この矛盾を見過ごしたくありません。

動物を犠牲にすることを前提としない生き方を選び、地球への負荷を減らし、食料資源の使い方を変えていく。

その選択には、大きな意味があると私は信じています。

🌎 きっと、どこかでみんなも気づいていると思います。

このままではいけないこと。
地球環境が変化していること。
動物たちが苦しんでいること。
豊かな国で暮らす私たちの生活の裏側にも、苦しんでいる人々がいること。

でも、気づくことと、行動することの間には、大きな壁があります。

ヴィーガンになるということは、長年の習慣を変え、当たり前だと思ってきた価値観を見直し、ときには周囲と違う選択をすることでもあります。

人間は社会性のある動物です。

みんなと同じでいることに安心し、ひとりだけ違う道を選ぶことには抵抗を感じるものです。

簡単ではありません。

それでも私は、肉を食べることをやめ、魚をやめ、すべての動物性食品を手放しました。

そして、完全ヴィーガンになって10年。

この生き方を続けています。

誰かが先に進まなければ、世界は変わらない。

昨日、私は宣言しました。

これからは、私が引っ張っていく、と。

日本人初の、完全ヴィーガンの女子フィジーク選手として、日本選手権のファイナリストになりました。

言葉だけではなく、行動と結果で証明しました🌱💪🔥

私が進むことで、誰かが一歩を踏み出す勇気を持てたら。

その一歩が、やがて大きな流れになったら。

私は、そんな未来を望んでいます。

🌎 This is my Armageddon.

私にとってのアルマゲドンは、映画の中だけの物語ではありません。

地球を守りたい。
動物たちの命を守りたい。
すべての命が尊重される世界にしたい。

その願いを、このフリーポーズに込めました。

Two little vegan ladies walk in to a max one rep bench press in a CrossFit competition… only one team beat us, and they were two dudes 😜.

Just two plant-powered girls representing Vegan Strong Team x PlantBuilt and reminding everyone that plants have all the protein you need. 🌱💚

Another milestone checked off.

The last RDL I posted was roughly 7 weeks ago, and I've only touched this movement once since then (I think I was conservative and worked with 335).

The main reason simply wanting to be safe closer to show. I was still hinging, just with good mornings and back extensions.

Missed this one, so excited to get some good momentum going again.

Not the cleanest execution but passable. I'll stay here until I can get 9 or 10, and then we will attempt a 4 plate set. Rerack was a bit sus 🤣

I need to continue to hammer away at these to develop the density needed in my back to not just be in the mix but competitive.

Country fueled sessions all offseason.

Let's get it.
