Simplicity is often the key to a successful final result 👌 Last week our team installed this second phase of a refurbishment project. This shows a great example of how a little care in the details, and the simple confidence of the @velfacwindows V200 system, can overcome otherwise awkward details. We supplied a bespoke aluminium clad timber post to this double casement door to overcome a difficult detail. Note how the outside frame profile runs consistently with the door, and how the cill profile continues under the post 😎 Also how the trickle vents are completely hidden from the outside, with no ugly hoods or frame add ons. These not only detract from the aesthetic but often compromise the thermal performance and air tightness of lesser systems. #RAL7030 stone grey #velfac #infill #alutimberpost

Old Ashley Hill. Bristol A self-build eco home nestled between the vibrant neighbourhoods of Montpelier and St Werburghs. The elevated hillside location offers panoramic views over the city while integrating seamlessly into the eclectic architectural landscape. The design embraces the area’s rich mix of historic and contemporary styles, reflecting the broad diversity of Bristol. This eco-conscious dwelling not only celebrates its unique setting but also exemplifies sustainable living in an urban environment. Externally a full landscaping design was prepared and implemented including over six flights of stairs and a number of terraces and planting banks to create the wealth of spaces maximising useable areas around the house. 📷 @charles_emerson_work Windows @velfacwindows Garage door @hormannuk Timber cladding @vasterntimber Structural engineering: Hambleton Partnership Ground works @mjchurchgroup Homeowner: Clem Balfour @yogabrunchclub #bristol #selfbuild #ecohome #newbuild #builtbyartel31

An amazing few days in Gdańsk, Poland, visiting the DOVISTA (Velfac & Rationel) window village! A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic trip - a special thanks to Max Hopperton and Brendan Percival for hosting us. A great opportunity to see the factories first-hand and learn more about the people and processes behind the products.

Picture this: a red cabin tucked into a Dorset hillside with a mezzanine bed above the living space, a wall of glass pulling in miles of countryside and a hot tub waiting for you outside for the moment the sun starts to set. That’s the Bide Bothy. Now picture its sibling just across the same farmland, wrapped in deep blue cladding and looking straight out over a quiet copse, with an outdoor bath made for gazing at the night sky and a stillness that makes you forget your phone exists. That’s the Bide Nest. We built both of these using sustainable materials, both designed around the same simple idea that a holiday retreat should make you want to slow right down and stay a while. If you’re dreaming of building your own retreat like this, our DMs are open for a chat. photography: @david_valinsky_photography @eviejohnstone.stylist

Rationel products are now part of the @velfacwindows range, bringing familiar window and door solutions together under one brand. If you’re planning a self-build or renovation and have previously considered Rationel windows and doors, you may notice some changes. The Rationel brand is being wound down in the UK, but its established products are not disappearing. Instead, they are now available as part of the VELFAC range. Nobody ever posts about doors, so here are nine slides of ours. The linings are cherry, designed in house. There’s a shadow gap all the way round, where the timber stops short of the lime plaster, so the two never quite touch. Nothing fancy, just doors done properly. #WoodHouse #CLT #LimePlaster #Doors ShadowGap #Joinery DoorDetails SelfBuild GrandDesigns

The cladding is finally done and we are thrilled with the result! Ben and his guys did it and they have absolutely smashed it these last couple of weeks. We chose a fairly new timber, called Thermo Ayous. It’s a heat treated wood, originating from Africa. We wanted thin pieces with a shadow gap and worked with a local sawmill to achieve the look we wanted. We sourced local Bath stone from @bathstonecompany which is from their quarry only a few miles away. It looks so fabulous against the timber and the @velfacwindows really complete the contemporary look we wanted to achieve. Thank you @coyletimber for supplying what we were looking for. #newhouse #thermoayous #timbercladding #house #houseexterior
