No Sunday scaries here. Just a cool cat 😸

A little tip: if you’re struggling to get out of your cosies to get out for a walk, wear them out!

The weather’s been threatening snow all day and I didn’t fancy going out, then I quite literally pulled my (joyous cosy cat) socks up and got up off my ass and out for a walk. I felt so much better for it, found I was walking with a spring in my step and even got a few smiles from passersby.

Almost 6k in the bag on a day when I could have quite easily sat on the sofa all day. I tackled the monster hill up Prince Charles Way in Newtownabbey for the first time in some time. IYKYK. 😅 So much of my progress on this fitness journey - particularly in the last four months - is due to the huge strides made on my mindset with @alicelyoung and @jessmolineaux.fit and I’m excited to see what I can achieve this year with their support and encouragement.

My hat, bought last year from @ventureoutennis, my @unalteredd leggings, @essentielantwerp scarf from @peelfashion and my ancient M&S thermal long sleeve top and puffer coat continue to be regular companions for my winter walks. If we waited for the sun to shine in this country, we’d never get out.

That being said, I am very much looking forward to warmer climes next month: it’s just 31 days today until we fly to South Africa.

This bucket trip is great motivation to make January an active one. Not because I’m chasing a certain scale weight or dress size but because I want to be able to enjoy this holiday to its fullest and improving my health and fitness will make so many things easier: the long flight, long meandering walks, sea swims, and perhaps not hiding from the camera quite so much.

Day to day it’s also such a great boost to my mood and energy levels that I’ve come to really need daily movement - whether a walk, or a swim. Also hoping to give reformer Pilates a go this month (lookin’ at you @emjhuffam), because nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh?

What’s motivating you to get moving this January?

An interesting article published by Michelle after walking on the Camino coastal route from Porto. Using the Porto service from Shannon Airport was a bonus, along with some Camino shopping in Venture Out in Ennis!

Here at a very wet @hiddenvalleyholidaypark this morning ! Yesterday was our only dry day promised but i dont mind the rain once youve the right tent your laughing!!
We got pitched in the dry but could not get my tarp up as the wind was making me into a human kite.
Himself made it look very easy last year im normally quite good at these things so I am going to try the tarp again when i get home but if there that hard to put up id give it a miss buying it and wont stock them in future !!!
My highlander cooker is still trucking along ive had it 10 years now ! There are lots of brands similar that we have stocked over the years i do want to upgrade but im kinda curious as to how long this will keep going first no waste on this house .
Absolutely love my beta 550xl..
I have moved back from airbeam which i had for 4 years prior to that id a delta 300+ for god am 15 years ( i really mind my camping gear) im a bit old fashioned and i personally love pole tents !

A statement from Allen Flynn here at Old Ground Hotel -

"As you may know, due to the introduction of Level 3 guidelines it was with a heavy heart that we have had to temporarily close the Old Ground Hotel.
In an effort to support our customers and retailers here in Ennis, the car park at the hotel will be available free of charge during the Level 3 period, we are in this together and we will come out of this stronger together.
When you shop local, you support local"
