17 years ago I walked into @sothebysrealty not knowing how much this place would shape me. Yesterday, at our 50th anniversary, I got to celebrate the brand’s heritage alongside the people who taught me the business. It was a lot to take in, in the best way. We unveiled Well-Connected, our new campaign (look for it in @nytimes today), built on a simple belief: as technology and AI reshapes our lives, human connection becomes the last true luxury. We also released The Art of Refined Living with @assouline, a look back at five decades and the distinctive homes behind them. The night ended at San Francisco City Hall with a toast to 50 years forward. I’m glad I’m here for the next chapter. #SothebysRealty #WellConnected #50YearsForward #SIRGNE

@youngvictheatre by @venturethree Young Vic, one of London’s most celebrated theatres, introduced a new positioning and brand identity rooted in five decades of bold and disruptive performance. The challenge was to capture the theatre’s immersive spirit and sharpen its identity for a contemporary audience without losing its rebellious character. The identity system centres around a hand-drawn wordmark that visually pulls the viewer inward, echoing the intimacy of the theatre’s shape-shifting spaces. Motion blur effects, expressive campaign imagery, and a bold typographic system create a sense of movement and tension, while a warm palette inspired by stage lighting reinforces the emotional energy of live performance. #branding #brandidentity #branddesign

@venturethree has rebranded London theatre @youngvictheatre with a hand-drawn wordmark that blurs outward, reading as stage light on dark backgrounds and spray-paint on pale ones.⁠ ⁠ Perspective is built into the letterforms so the eye is pulled towards the centre, echoing the theatre’s intimate, shape-shifting spaces, where the gap between performer and audience all but disappears. The same motion blur is used in campaign photography for productions like Thelma & Louise, drawing viewers into the action.⁠ ⁠ Modern Gothic by AllCapsType was picked for the wider typographic system, kept crisp and bold so production titles can take centre stage. 2013 | New York | November 7 | SVA Theatre 👉 speaker list in comments — After three conferences we were ready to kick it up a notch or two, and we headed back to New York for a year of many firsts — some small, some defining, and others simply amusing. Prior to showing up at the venue we embarked on our first serious hand-made approach to the branding materials as we could not procure the items exactly how we wanted them. Wanting white bags with 🟨 handles and not being able to afford custom made bags we placed clothing lines all over our backyard and got to dipping the handles in paint and hanging them up to dry. This led to the official introduction of BNConf to our neighbors who, amused, offered to send pizza. Over the years as people walked dogs and kids they offered baby sitting, food, entertainment, and encouragement (if not necessarily understanding). ✋ We also introduced the “one-of-a-kind” approach by 🪡 hand-embroidering each cover: 600 copies, six logo variations, infinite placements. We introduced the first ribbon-based lanyard which was seamlessly connected to the name badge dutifully eliminating the clunkiness of clasps and the first time we laser-cut anything, which has led to a 13-year-long love affair with laser-cutting. And we introduced a podium wrap, also embroidered with paracord, thus starting to brand the stage properly. All of these firsts are still in place now and have served as a strong foundation for how we approach each year since then. Setting up at the venue this was the first year where we felt more at ease with the process, our choices, and our unique way of doing things. We shed some of our “impostor” feeling and owned the fact that we could and were actually making this happen in a way that was enjoyable and fulfilling for the attendees and ourselves. It was also a year where we clearly defined that @arminvit is all about back of the house and tech and @bryonygp is all about front of the house, hospitality and experience, fully tapping into our skills and strengths.
