Artist announcement #3

Hi everyone! My name is Vera Savelkouls and I’m a multimedia illustrator from Tilburg. My style is playful, colourful and a little quirky. I get a lot of inspiration from animals, plants and the little things in everyday life.

I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. During art school, I tried out pretty much every illustration technique out there: screen printing, tufting, embroidery... you name it. It will not surprise you that I have A LOT of hobbies (ADHD, duh 🫡).

In 2017, I started my own online shop filled with goodies like stickers, keychains, prints and T-shirts. I absolutely love to join art markets, and seeing people get excited about the things I make, makes me so happy.

In 2022, I picked up a tattoo machine for the first time. How magical was that! I could create something together with people, or for them, that they could carry with them forever. I wasn’t instantly in love, though, because don’t get me wrong: I was absolutely shitting my pants. 😂
But over the years, I’ve had the chance to work on so many wonderful projects and hear some truly special stories. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has given me this opportunity, whether as a client or by supporting my work in any way. I think it’s amazing that I get to do this and create beautiful things for you.

My favourite things to draw are little animals, fantasy creatures and anything that can come to life in my own little worlds. Give an animal its own personality, dress it up in a cute outfit or come up with an entire story around it, and I’m happy. I love playful designs, tiny details, and both colourful and black-and-grey tattoos. My designs are little characters and stories that you can carry with you as a companion throughout life.

I can’t wait to create beautiful things for you at Yõkai Den! And I hope I’ll get to make you happy with something you can carry with you for the rest of your life, too. 💛

One of the first things Vera and I agreed on was that as soon as I could decently tattoo, I had to put a Vera the mouse on Vera 🤭✨ So here we are 🌷 Two sessions later and some small adjustments to the original design by Marjolein Bastin — and we have the cutest Vera piece on my dear friend & colleague @veras.tattoos

Thank you for trusting me, always! 🫶🏻🦋
