Before I was confident enough to use a laser on myself, I let another practitioner treat my underarms and Hollywood area.

Eight sessions later, no reduction, no results.

When I raised it, she didn’t have an answer. She had to call her machine’s manufacturer to find out why. Turns out her laser wasn’t even suitable for Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin, and I’m a Fitzpatrick V.

No consultation. No patch test. No notes on the settings, session after session. I noticed it happening in real time, but I was early in my own career and didn’t yet have the confidence to say something.

3 things I noticed in my make-up between 28 and 32 👀 Swipe to see my skin and make-up at 28 👀👉🏽

For those of you I haven’t met yet or are new to my page, welcome! I’m Taran a qualified pro make-up artist and aesthetics practitioner based in Birmingham. Today’s post is a little different, and I think needs to be talked about as everyone will go through this change at some point…

These changes are often overlooked by many when considering a make-up service or even applying personal make-up on yourself. I’m going to share with you, what I’ve noticed in my skin over the last few years and what I’ve changed to accomodate those particular things 👇🏽

1. My skin became drier; the products and techniques that worked perfectly in my late 20s started to emphasise dryness rather than create a smooth finish. Skin hydration became far more important than the foundation itself.

2. Texture became more visible; make-up doesn’t suddenly start causing texture, but as our skin changes, pores, fine lines and uneven texture can become more noticeable under certain products, especially heavier formulas. Prioritising my skincare and treatments in clinic at @veridermgroup is what made the biggest difference to the overall appearance of my skin, not topical products 😬

3. My application technique had to evolve! What looked beautiful on my skin at 28 didn’t necessarily flatter my skin at 32. Less product, more strategic placement, and focusing on skin preparation became the key to achieving a fresh, seamless finish.

I was very kindly sent @sundayriley Tidal Deep Hydration and Plumping serum to try and review.

I can honestly say, I’m very impressed with the quality of the product and the finish it leaves on the skin. Since integrating the serum into my skincare, I have received multiple compliments on how hydrated and dewy my skin looks. I must add that the hydration does last all day, after testing it through a long period from 07:00am till 21:00pm.

With five types of hyaluronic acid, this product hydrates deeply while protecting the skin against dehydration preventing water loss.

If you’re an OG follow of my beauty journey, you’ll know I used to use A LOT of colour corrector to cancel out the ashy tones from the hyperpigmentation. Now? It’s a myth I don’t reach for it 🤯

I was kindly sent this cleansing balm by @sundayriley and try out… Here’s what I think 👇🏽

The texture of the balm is super soft and melts your make-up right off. A lot of cleansers that I’ve used previously don’t necessarily break up the make-up product under my eyes too well due to the way I set it. But this product… made it super easy!

It doesn’t feel harsh on the skin, it’s gentle and also very hydrating.

The balm itself contains gentle ingredients which sooth and calm the skin during the cleansing process. Key ingredients include moringa butter to help support the skins moisture barrier, chamomile to address redness and essential oils to help tone and clarify the skin!

It’s a yes from your qualified skincare bestie ✨
