New York City, Part 1! I had a wonderful time visiting several amazing bookstores, attending the Latinx Kid Lit Storytellers Conference, eating at my favorite restaurant Sullaluna, seeing standup at the Comedy Cellar, and walking around the Chelsea Market all with a bunch of awesome friends, new and old! 😁

Here’s the cover i made for a book called Liftoff: The Mercury Seven Astronauts and the Nazi Who Took Them to Space. Publishing next year via Macmillan.
This is the second title by @rebecca.ef.barone i’ve worked on, the first being ‘Double Crossed - The WWII Spies Who Saved D-Day’
Big thanks to @veronica_mang for the art direction

Summer reading starts here at Middleburg Books!!

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect reading list for your little ones, it’s finally here! Former school librarian and owner Mary Beth has been busy curating a wonderful collection of early reader picks that are guaranteed to keep young readers turning pages all summer long.

We are continuing sharing summer reading fun with our Early Reader — perfect for readers ages 5-10! From tales about friendly animals, action and adventure, to our staff favorites, there’s so much to choose from.
Stop by with your kiddos to pick up a copy in person or download the full list from our website — where you’ll also find descriptions and recommended age levels for each title. Happy reading ☀️📚!!!

Wow! What an Afternoon — Walking Through Stories with Their Storytellers ✨

Our first-ever book festival, and it was truly unforgettable 💛 From meeting 19 incredible authors and illustrators to experiencing so many creative activities, every moment felt special.

Kaira was in complete awe—seeing the authors of the books she loves come to life right in front of her felt like pure magic.

We made buttons, drew with illustrators, met Elephant & Piggie from Mo Willems’ beloved books… and the most special moment of all—having her T-shirt warmly signed by the authors ✍️📚

A day full of stories, smiles, and memories we’ll cherish forever ✨

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing storytellers: @adoodlefox
@thedustdancestoo
@bethferry1
@laurenmagaziner
@lbontigao
@e.b.lewis
@heuniceburgos
@laborofloaf
@nicolemelleby
@meredithrusuwrites
@…and so many more who made this day magical 💛

🌸🎶 What a lovely visit with author and illustrator of Copland: A Story About America @veronica_mang 🎶🌸

We made flower crafts, listened to Aaron Copland’s music, saw Veronica’s original artwork for the book, and learned all about the writing and illustrating process. If you haven’t read Copland, or her series Secret Spy Society, check out the library’s autographed copies!

Thank you, Veronica, for sharing your time and your immense talent with us 🌸💕🎶
