This was me exactly one year ago today.

Broken.
Feeling defeated.
Unsure of what was going to happen to me.

I was having the busiest year of my career and this definitely threw some spokes in the wheels.

Still tried to have a somewhat normal life with some slight modifications

Bathing with one leg sure is interesting.

Went back to work as soon as I could. Despite everyone telling me not to.

Getting there felt like a marathon. I was exhausted. But I needed it for my own sanity.

I’m not 100%
I’m not sure if I’ll ever be. I just keep working on it everyday, regardless.

Thankfully I can do a lot of the things I could do before the accident. Just not everything yet.

At least I can fit into shoes again.

Just pushing this damn leg to do the work.

Just keep going

I went back to training 3 days after surgery because training helps me more than just physically.
I figured out what I could do and made a plan.

I didn’t want to be weak and broken. Just broken.

My training definitely has some differences now but I’m glad I stuck to it through the worst of it.

Don’t let a temporary setback set you back.

Not letting it stop me from doing what I want

I kinda walk with a limp when I don’t realize it. Maybe it’s called style?

You can learn a lot from a crazy injury or going through something traumatic.

Resilience
Perseverance
Determination

Now just don’t let those stop when you get better. ❤️‍🩹

Fun fact: I’ve been doing @cocorocha’s glam for over 15 years and we’ve travelled all over the world together. So seeing her create a bag collection with @baggallini is pretty special. I was in New York with her for the launch, but getting the “Super Bag” delivered to my house and unboxing it myself felt extra special.

Coco travels for work more than anyone I know … so she knows what she needs in a travel bag. The Super Bag can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody, has padded pockets and enough room for me to fit in it!

I’ll be using it for travel and as my overflow makeup bag for all the beauty products that never quite fit in my kit while trying to make pretty people prettier! Can’t wait to glam my super friend Coco again with my Super Bag!

The only split squat variation you’ll catch me doing

Everyone’s least favourite exercise is the back foot elevated split squat. We all hate it. But we all do it anyways because we know it’s benefits 🍑

This is the only variation you wouldn’t have to pay me to do.

➡️Cable is easier to hold onto with better tension
➡️Ankle pad is adjustable to the perfect height
➡️Handle of the front of the rack allows for more stability so you can lift heavier
➡️ Can add front foot height easily for more range of motion.

As an Asian woman who grew up in the ’90s … I remember how different it felt to be Asian back then. Our culture wasn’t celebrated or represented the way it is now …and sometimes it was hard to feel proud of where you came from … especially a refugee who didn’t speak English and have the same upbringing as my peers.

Looking back, I realize how much the music, fashion, culture and beauty of that time shaped me. I still love it … I’m still inspired by it and sometimes you have to look back to move forward.

So to all the young Asian people out there: you’ve always been a baddie. You just needed another Asian baddie to remind you. Here’s my ’90s Asian fine makeup tutorial for a little inspo if you want to achieve this look!

Both @steveparkhillfitness and I are always on the go for our Professional life … making pretty people prettier, fitness and wellness … but to be honest we rarely make time for our own.

So when we were invited to @aireancientbaths Toronto and realized this candlelit 1912 building is literally down the street from us … we ran! The atmosphere is inspired by ancient Roman, Greek and Ottoman bathing traditions, and it feels like stepping out of the city into an entirely different world.

The fall thermal circuit takes you from the gentle warmth of the tepidarium to the saunarium, a cold dip in the frigidarium, then back to the hot caldarium. There’s aromatic steam, jet baths, an open ceiling soak and a saltwater float to finish.

To say we were extremely relaxed and did not want to leave was an understatement. Definitely go and treat yourself and take the time to reset, plunge and take a long needed breathe.

When I was living my 90’s fly girls era … and I wanted was a pair of @reebokcanada pump sneakers! So when I got invited to their Reebok Club house … I put on my Reebok X Maison Margiela Tabis and ran over to see what’s up!

I was transported back to my childhood where the tv was always on, the board games were being played and people connected with Fashion and just talking to one another again. Do you guys remember … talking to each other??? I mean I still do.

All this to say … thanks Reebok for remindinge of the 90’s fly girl that always lives in me!

One thing I love about beauty is how it can make you feel something. Scent really makes you feel layers and the notes.

When I was invited to the launch of Mood Stones … @kyliecosmetics newest fragrance collection from Kylie Jenner … I was inspired by the neutral tones and the bottles. So I got@out of my safe space … black on black. I did my makeup, hair and outfit to match the perfume bottle.

Meet Cashmere Muse, Blush Wood and Velvet Brew, three fragrances, each made to evoke a different mood. I am stepping into my neutral era. I might not be here for a long time, but I’m definitely here for a good time.

And I know someone’s going to comment that this is my best look because I’m not wearing all black. Just know that’s a personal attack on my all black attire. I’m kidding. Mostly .. I really do love this look.

The videos I take of my best friend @mrshannahkim vs. the videos she takes of me … it’s something to be studied!

Yesterday we went to the @esteelaudercanada Glimmer perfume launch and the backdrop was perfect. I put in the effort: the angles, the lighting, the beautiful little behind the scenes moments of my best friend in her best light!

Then Hannah takes a video of me and somehow captures me … let’s be honest in my truest form!

Hannah, I love you. But can we get one good video of me? Just one. Just kidding … but not really!

“I’m worth it.”

Last night somewhere between the Eiffel Tower to Toronto … @lorealparis transported us to Paris for their Le Défilé Runway Show inviting us to Express our Worth, celebrating women’s empowerment, inclusivity, freedom, confidence and sisterhood.

Seeing people of every race, gender and size take the runway and own their worth was such an incredible reminder of how much this message matters.

As a professional makeup artist, one of my favourite parts of the job is that moment after someone gets their makeup done. You can feel the shift in their confidence. They’re ready to take on whatever’s in front of them.

Last night, I was reminded of that feeling. It doesn’t matter where it comes from … even if it comes in the form of L’Oréal Paris setting mist … I’m worth it.
