OUT OF OFFICE

Going wild. Going crazy.

It's Christmas in July.

@crazymountainultra week is here.

I'll be out of office until July 28th.

Eat your protein.
Drink your water.
Move your ass.
Go the fuck outside.
Live where your feet are.
You are wildly capable.

See you all on the flip side!

Huge thank you to Jacob Myers (“Val”) for coming out to share about his recent ~45-mile Panthertown Trace, his upcoming book, what it means to be a good trail steward, and ways to get involved with us!

Val ran all 30 miles of Panthertown’s designated US Forest Service trails in one day — totaling around 45 miles with connector trails. An incredible accomplishment (and thanks to him, we now know whether any trees have recently fallen).

Thank you to Innovation Station in Dillsboro for hosting us, and to everyone who came out and listened in.

We’re so grateful for this community and for folks like Val who lead by example when it comes to stewardship.

Join us this Friday from 6–8 PM at Innovation Station in Dillsboro for a Trail Talk with Jacob “Val” Myers. Val will share the story behind his recent “Panthertown Trace,” where he ran all 30 miles of Panthertown’s USFS-designated trails—covering 45 miles total with out-and-backs—plus insights from his new book and ways you can get involved with trail stewardship.

Spend the evening with great trail folks, good food, cold beer, and even better community.

Come early for a 3–5 mile group run leaving Innovation Station at 5 PM and returning around 5:45 PM—just in time for the program to begin. All are welcome! 🏃

Battling some windy cold stuff. Another effective way to anchor yourself in the present. It feels good.

Imagine this: Days of carrying 100+ pounds of equipment through a remote region of Alaska. Sharp, ancient ice has pierced holes in vital equipment, and what remains has been cornered by a momma Grizzly bear. How would you respond?

This is exactly what our friend, Jacob “Val” Myers navigated on his recent expedition to the remote Elias-Wrangell Mountains.

Stop by the gym next Friday, January 16, at 5:00 PM to gain a firsthand account of the trials of backcountry living, the preparation it takes to step into the unknown, and the decision making process it takes to return safely from such a trying environment. Jacob will also be training with us at 6:30 PM at open mat.

Wrangell–St. Elias has a way of calling in people with big ideas and no interest in easy routes! This summer, @vertboyval and @kylesprenger_ answered that call with an attempted 260 mile crossing of the Bagley Icefield to Yakutat by foot, ski, and packraft, and we were proud to help them along the way! Read about their experience in our latest blog highlighting Val’s words, or directly at Val’s own website.
