What happens when actors come to set with an idea?

@tomhanks has talked about an actor’s job being simple: show up prepared, know the lines, and have an idea.

That’s exactly the spirit behind this scene from The IT Girl’s Secret Bodyguard.

The script called for a dance between a CIA agent and her top spy. The original idea was a waltz.

But during the audition process, the idea of turning it into a dangerous tango was born.

By the time everyone got to set, there was already choreography to build from. Kiki embraced the idea from @aninanet , the actors started rehearsing together between setups, and under @paddyma direction, and @joyceee_yy the scene continued to evolve.

One person brings an idea.
Another person adds to it.
The director shapes it.
The camera and crew figure out how to bring it to life.

That’s collaboration.

And it’s one of the exciting things about working in vertical drama.

The schedules move FAST. Actors have to arrive prepared, directors have to make decisions quickly, and sometimes the best moments come from everyone bringing something unexpected to the table.

The goal isn’t to change the director’s vision.

It’s to bring your preparation, creativity and instincts into that vision and see what the team can create together.

The result here?

A rather dangerous tango. 💃😂

And judging from the comments we’ve received, this little experiment worked.

The IT Girl’s Secret Bodyguard is now streaming FREE on @meantioshortdrama for iOS.

Watch the scene and tell us:

Would you have chosen the waltz... or the tango?

🎬 Vertical filmmaking is becoming its own art form.

It’s not just taking a traditional film and flipping the frame.

After working with one of the largest platforms in the world, I’ve seen how vertical storytelling requires a completely different approach.

The way we frame shots, build emotion, create movement, and connect with audiences on a phone screen is changing.

The next generation of filmmakers will not just adapt to vertical. They will master it.

The future of storytelling is being created one frame at a time.

As a director/DP, every frame gets tighter, more intentional. Faces, movement, emotion, it all hits closer.

It’s not adapting cinema… it’s creating a new canvas for how we watch.
This is a new lane and it’s just getting started.
