Congratulations to this amazing group of GSAPP Adv VI students, and also to those in my Fall Intertwined Existence seminar. Thank you for a fabulous year! Your aggregate inquisitive dedication to learning and your commitment to push from the edges to compel the world to be more compassionate and beautiful is inspirational. In this time where brutal divisiveness is touching each of our lives, we have asked challenging questions and recognized moments of awe; we travelled to temples and mosques and stepwells and salt flats in Gujarat, India – in a collaborative quest to unearth antidotes to some of the disillusionment and griefs we are navigating. We built on the underlying premise of @gsappdeathlab – that by engaging with mortality, we recognize the inextricable tangle of everything alive, and the agency we have – as humans who design – to craft both compassion and joy. More images of final work and India once we each get some rest! Continue to be brave and coax out critical optimism at all scales. @jordan.r.h @bennybrv @Verybigspeed @andreaczamora @bryce_0706 @arq.nocioniladdaga @brandonjgil khloe james @myfriendjess_ @normankeyesiii, @nak_arch @arissara_reed Congratulations to ALL @columbiagsapp graduating Students, and thank you, Nicole Biewenga, assoc. faculty, and all of the colleagues and guests who have accompanied and guided us. #proud

Midterm glimpses @gsappdeathlab CIVIC-SACRED: Life, Death, Liminality (re)ordered Existence and the Presence of Absence An incredibly affirming afternoon discussing the many ways in which careful critical thinking, precise conceptual positioning, and syntactical translation can reveal and scaffold new possibilities. The Studio – Benji + Brandon; Arissara + Norman; Jess; khloe + Rory; James; Andrea + Franco; Jordan + Bryce – is exploring “traces, migration, dispersion, and at times cyclical return; Thin boundaries between material, immaterial and spiritual realms; Agency as ephemeral and nonlinear; Holding, absorbing, and releasing…rendering evanescent processes visible; Thresholds of dissolution, each following its own temporal arc; Shadow communication and intra-actions with the imprints left by our biological selves; Regenerative cycles embodying the ephemeral…” and so much more!
