“A quick chat with” actress Rachel Rooney currently playing in “The Girl Who Was Very Good at Lying” by Eoin McAndrew and directed by Fay Lomas

A super fun play about Catriona who in order to escape the frustrations of her own reality finds comfort in “lying” and making up hilarious stories

Rachel Rooney is absolutely amazing in her performance, the writing is intricately comic

The show is playing at the Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival till 28 August

We can learn so much from reading but also from listening. Just been to the cultural feast offered in Edinburgh each August. The city is full of visitors but what a great atmosphere. Felt safe & accepted everywhere I went: no askance glances for wearing a mask when I felt it was an especially crowded or poorly ventilated room. People patient & courteous in loos & queues. These things matter. Mutual respect. Have seen & heard stimulating, challenging, life affirming comedy, drama, music, & multimedia productions. Some were extraordinarily high quality amateur or youth groups, some still commanding a crowd in later years, others early rising stars, some stalwart mid career pros managing to make a living. All grafting at their crafts, living what they love, grateful for our being there not merely to watch but to engage, to respond. Politicians should learn from performing artists. I think we could solve a lot of problems if we truly treated the world as a stage - not a platform from which to present but an arena in which to offer, contemplate, and debate ideas. In awe of human creativity.
