MY INTERNATIONAL DEBUT😭📖

I’m beyond proud to announce the translation of my essay collection “Generación Z - Entre la autorrealización, la instasoledad y la esperanza de un mundo mejor” by @penguinlibrosmx into Spanish.

I don’t think I have yet found the words to try to state what it means to be a migrant’s daughter, having your writing published in your mother’s tongue. My grandmother was a Spanish teacher from a small rural town in northern Mexico. In my acknowledgements I wrote: “I would like to thank my grandmother, María Minerva García Ríos, to whom I owe my courage to write. I do it for her, because her love of poetry continues to breathe within me.” This book is dedicated to my entire family in Mexico. It has been the honor of my lifetime to work with the incredible people at Penguin Mexico, who have done so much for this intergenerational dream.

This edition has an additional essay called “A Migrant’s Daughter” and the poem “Jacaranda Partida,” which I wrote in Mexico City, as well as a prologue written by my mother. To quote her:

“For me, it has been a privilege to fulfill my dream of building a family, to learn from my daughters, and to pass on to them the best of Mexico: our roots, our values, and our culture.
They have learned that warmth, tenacity, and joy are part of who we are—and that a Mexican heart can illuminate any corner of the world.”
