On the beautiful grounds of Maine Maritime Museum, a team of designers will create floral sculptures that tell a story, honor Maine’s history, and bring people together. The arrangements will be built using local, seasonal flowers, and sustainable mechanics. We invite you to search for all the creations, ask questions, and spend time with the flowers. Through guided tours, education opportunities, and immersive events, we hope to encourage a connection to flowers that promotes sourcing stems from Maine farms, incorporating beauty from our natural landscapes, and choosing sustainable mechanics.

Come celebrate the turn of the season with community on the waterfront and view the floral art by Katie Dionne, Kathryn Hogan, Rachel Alexandrou, Maria Salcines, Michelle Rechs, Rue Brown, Griff Comtois, Brent McHale, Journey Temple, and Laura Pierpont.

Slow Flowers Schedule:
Thursday, September 17 // view a live installation of all the floral sculptures with general admission to @mainemaritimemuseum

Friday, September 18 // take a self guided tour of all the creations with general admission to the museum, join Maria Salcines for a bouquet building workshop from 2-4, and join all the floral artists from 5:30-7:30 for a guided tour of the creations followed by a lecture including guest speakers like @maineflowercollective and Ankit Singh who will talk to us about the history of flower farming in Maine.

Saturday, September 19 // ground into the shifting seasons by visiting the floral installations with general admission, take a wild edibles plant walk with @giantdaughter from 4-6, and let loose at Nightbloom masquerade from 7-10 with DJ Dr. Fuzz @fuzzyheavycream, @vesselandvine (ft. @jackassannie trailer), and @oysthersrawbar!

Sunday, September 20 // start your slow Sunday morning by making a floating flowers wall hanging with @sunroomflorals and observe how florists deconstruct materials, recycle mechanics, and preserve flowers.

A big thank you to Lucy Henderson @lucelln for our Slow Flowers and Nightbloom flyer designs and @coastalmainebotanicalgardens and @rootedmaine for their generous flower donations!
