What a week in Cairo 🇪🇬❤️

Having represented Egypt my entire career, getting to compete at this level on home soil was a moment of immense pride — even though I let more poles hit the dirt than anticipated 🙈

The last time I competed in Egypt was over 21 years ago. I was just a kid from Kuwait who loved riding horses and couldn’t have imagined where they would one day take me.

The local support throughout the week was truly palpable and hard to put into words really. It was so nice to spend some time with family, catch up with familiar faces I hadn’t seen in ages and meet so many new enthusiastic fans. The energy from the home crowd every time an Egyptian strutted into the arena was something I had never experienced. I hope seeing an event like this up close inspires more young Egyptian riders to dream BIG and chase those ambitions.

A huge hats off to the @egyptianequestrianfederation, @longinesglobalchampionstour and everyone who worked so hard to make this historic event come to life. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a special chapter for our sport in Egypt.

Most importantly, this week also highlighted a difficult reality. Just a short distance from some of the most privileged and well cared for horses in the world are working horses and other animals living in devastating conditions. It’s a contrast that’s impossible to ignore, and we must use the spotlight this event has brought to Egypt to catalyze meaningful and lasting improvements to their welfare. That would be a legacy worth celebrating even more than the event itself.

Thank you, Cairo, for all the love. Can’t wait to be back! 🇪🇬❤️

My best boy, always fighting for me and giving his all to carry me safely over every jump. 🤍🐴✨

*werbung*ad*

I think you can clearly see in his eyes before the combination how much he’s questioning my decision to take one less stride and wondering if that’s really a good idea. 😂 But in the end, he does it anyway, jumps both fences like an absolute angel, and even leaves all the poles up. 🥹🤍 He’s simply from another planet. 🌎✨
