We are releasing 10 copies of the exhibition guide for Materials and Processes for an Expanding World in a new spiral-bound format. Produced in full color in a handbook-size format (5.5 × 8.5 inches).

This small release helps raise money to support printing and additional expenses as Soft Systems prepares to participate in the Heavy Manners Library Zine Fair (@heavymannerslibrary), April 11 in LA.

This exhibition guide published by Soft Systems for the group exhibition Materials and Processes for an Expanding World, presented December 11–13, 2025 at @plooooooot in Los Angeles. The guide presents a comprehensive visual survey of the works included in the exhibition. The exhibition featured small works on paper, ephemera, and video submitted through the mail by 34 artists. The publication is a 35-page, 1 color black risograph printed on recycled paper and comb bound.

Soft Systems presents a video screening of Materials and Processes for an Expanding World. The screening will take place January 31, 2026, from 7–9 p.m., with the video screening beginning at 7:30 p.m., hosted by Parlour and Ramp in Pilsen, Chicago. The program brings together nine video works from the last offsite exhibition in Los Angeles, which invited contributors to mail small works, including video submitted on USB drives.

The original group exhibition featured works on paper, ephemera, and video by 37 artists and was held from December 11–13, 2025, hosted by Plot, in Los Angeles. Building on traditions of mail art, the open call exhibition invited artists to send unfinished works to the gallery in LA. Materials and Processes for an Expanding World reflects the ways artists create their own universes through movement, experiment, and intentional accidents. The intermedia exhibition places an emphasis on process-based work and temporary objects including doodles, sketches, notes, and everyday pieces of ephemera.
