One day, TWO of London’s big names in interiors 💪🏼

Our Interior Design Manager Carol, has headed south this week for @decorex_international at @olympialondon and while there couldn’t resist a visit to the Design Centre @designcentrech, Chelsea Harbour: an entire building given over to interior design! 🖊️

Seeing finishes, fabrics, lighting and furniture in person is how we make sure the interiors on a Switch project are specified with the same care as the structure behind them 💡

And because interiors sit in the same team as our planners, architects and build crew, what’s chosen at design stage is what gets delivered on site 🛠️

Plenty of ideas heading back “oop North” for the projects on our boards. Watch this space 👀

Some kitchens arrive as a beautifully resolved design. Others begin as a series of conversations around a table.

An architect sees the structure.. Interior designers shape how the room will feel. A kitchen designer & cabinet maker considers every join and finish. Between those ideas is the work of bringing them together.

That means understanding where details meet, resolving challenges before they become problems, and ensuring every practical decision supports the ambition of the design. Sometimes its structural coordination, sometimes its refining construction details, sometimes its integrating services so seamlessly they disappear.

No two projects follow the same path. Our role adapts to the people around the table, creating the foundation for the vision to unfold.

A little bathroom moodboard inspired by the beautiful @soanebritain Karun Thaker Floral Lattice Wallpaper. Layering the intricate pattern with brass, rich walnut, and veined marble to create an inviting mood, brought together with thoughtfully selected pieces.

Tiles for the new bathroom.
Green matt rectangular tiles for the walls, next to square terrazzo tiles for the floor.
A different shade of green from the initial idea, but it will probably look good with accessories we’re considering

A recent research visit to @designcentrech, as we move into the FF&E stage for a recently completed home with its new owners. Lovely displays from @romo_fabrics @cole_and_son_wallpapers and @via_arkadia

Alongside this, we’re also reviewing tile finishes and material options for a separate development project in Oxfordshire, which is still at an early stage of the build.

These visits are less about individual pieces, and more about testing tone, texture and durability across a scheme – ensuring finishes feel cohesive and appropriate to how a home will be used over time.

Much of this work happens before anything is fixed on site, but it’s at this point that many of the most important decisions are made.

Bathrooms, over the years
A quiet evolution of proportion, material, and feeling.

What began as a purely functional space has become one of the most considered rooms in the home — where architecture meets ritual. I’ve always believed bathrooms should feel calm, intentional, and beautifully resolved. Never trend-led, always thoughtful.

Across the years, my approach has remained the same:
• strong layouts
• natural materials
• soft, enduring palettes
• details that feel almost unnoticed — but deeply felt

These spaces are designed to age well, to be lived in, and to offer a sense of pause in everyday lif
