POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Some pics from my week at the Music Gallery’s d/Deaf & hearing artists residency in September. So fun to work with Alessio on this immersive projection—he’s so cool ! & Extra special shout out to our interpreter Rogue, we really couldn’t have done it without her

VibraFusion Labs shared their vibrohaptic flooring with us, and I used it along with a baking sheet and a sub to create a little sound / vibration system. I wanted to come as close to a shared listening experience between Alessio & I, and focus on d/Deaf listeners, so we didn’t use any conventional speakers while making the piece and focused on vibration (so weird hearing it out of phone speakers now)

Along with our epic cohort, Gaitrie from Phoenix the Fire, David & Jim from Vibrafusion labs and of course the Music Gallery team Akash, Sara, Matthew, Matthew and Justin were so incredible and none of this could have happened without them. Thank you!!

Hoping we can return to this work in the future 👀

🎪 Rising Synergy is a cross-Disability poetic aerial fabric duet with aerialists Erin Ball and Maxime Beauregard, and musician @andrew_wullie , that imagines the body as a vessel made tangible. This iteration was made with Jim Ruxton and David Bobier of @vibrafusionlab and access strategist Amy Amantea. Layers of visceral connection are added for audiences with vibrotactile technology, transforming the live heartbeats of aerialists into pulsing sounds and vibrations (via cushions that allow audience members to feel the aerialists live heart beats). The sound of the live heartbeats and Andrew Heule’s music are woven together.

📸 Photo: A brief moment in time.
Erin is a double below knee amputee not using any mobility devices. Maxime is a hyper-mobile joyful Autistic+ human. Performing on the red filaments that cascade to the floor from above, the two white aerialists wearing metallic tight outfits move about two stories high. Both are suspended upside down in arched positions, Maxime above, and Erin slightly below. Erin’s short legs reach away from each other. The artists are intertwined with the red connective tissue, their shapes complementing each other: merged elements.

VENUS FEST STARTS TODAY!!! 💫AND YOUR 2026 GUIDE IS HERE😍😍

After months of planning, dreaming, building, emailing, organizing and getting everything ready, we finally get to say it:

Come hang out with us. 😝😝

From September 15–20, we’re celebrating 10 years of Venus Fest with 5 days of music, art, workshops, conversation, gathering and community.

This year takes us through Allan Gardens and beyond, with performances, artist talks, hands-on workshops, visual art, live visuals, ASL interpretation, a community market, drop-in Mahjong and lots of room to spend time together.
10 years in, Venus Fest is still about making space: for artists to experiment, for communities to gather, and for all of us to imagine what music and art spaces can be.

Come for one event, come for the weekend, come spend the whole week with us. ♡

The final report for our technical exploration project is here!

Light+Vibrotactile was our longest-running project, and it shows. We learned so much, encountered many challenges, and built something truly special and impactful.

Please check out the final report through our link in bio. An ASL translation is available as well, with links throughout the report that will take you directly to that section in the ASL video.

Closing this out with a few final photos - some not shared publicly yet! Please enjoy, and thank you for showing up for Deaf artists every day.
