Warning: This video contains excessive dancing, dangerously good patties, and a group of women who have collectively decided to make every weekend a side quest 💃🏾☀️✨

🚨BREAKING: Bill S-248, Caribbean Heritage Month Act, advances in the Senate of Canada.

On June 9, 2026, Senator Paulette Senior presented Bill S-248 for Second Reading (debate in the Senate on the bill). After the Senator’s speech, Senator Leo Housakos, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Canada (Conservative), shared his support for the Bill and called for an immediate vote - and Second Reading was passed in the Senate! The Bill was then referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.

This recognition of Canada’s Caribbean community is long overdue. Despite over one million Canadians from or with family origins in the Caribbean, the community remains underrepresented, unappreciated, and unrecognized. Many other ethnocultural and religious communities in Canada have been recognized by the federal government with an awareness month designation. Canada’s Caribbean community deserves to have its distinct culture and contributions to the nation recognized and celebrated.

For more information and to watch the entire speech by Senator Senior, please visit: CaribbeanMonth.ca.

Proof that all it takes is one soca beat to turn a crowd into a party. 🎶🔥

Friends were made.
Booties were shaken.
Knees were tested.

10/10 would do it again.

PS if you want to do this you should connect with the @vicaribbeanhub make sure to attend @ilandfest coming this july 1-5 🙌🏾🔥
