GTA VI REPORTEDLY HAS NOT GONE GOLD — BUT THIS IS NOT A NEW DELAY ANNOUNCEMENT.

Notebookcheck published a report on October 17 claiming that GTA VI had not yet reached its “gold” milestone, with final bug fixes, system refinements and polishing reportedly continuing behind the scenes.

Going gold generally means that the launch master has reached its release-ready stage. Notebookcheck says GTA VI had not reached that point when its article was published.

The outlet also expects the final build to clear Sony and Microsoft certification near the November 12 preload window. That certification timeline is Notebookcheck’s expectation—not an official date announced by Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft.

Here is the important source check: Notebookcheck did not conduct a separate Rockstar interview for this story. Its reporting draws from Jason Schreier’s Bloomberg feature and the Rockstar developers interviewed for that article.

That means the “not yet gold” headline should be treated as a media report—not a fresh Rockstar confirmation.

Notebookcheck also states that continued development this close to release does not automatically signal another delay. GTA VI remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, unless Rockstar announces otherwise.

ONE PLAY TEST. TWO HOURS OF CHAOS. THE MISSION NEVER EVEN STARTED.

In Bloomberg Businessweek’s October 14 report, journalist Jason Schreier shared a revealing GTA VI play-test story from Rockstar Director of Technology Phil Hooker.

Hooker entered the game intending to test one story mission.

He never reached it.

A minor collision escalated when the other driver retaliated and rammed his vehicle. The confrontation left Hooker low on health, sending him toward a convenience store—where an encounter with another pedestrian became a fight.

There was no clerk behind the counter.

So Hooker robbed the store.

That triggered a police chase, forcing him to abandon his vehicle. He eventually located another valuable car, only to be nearly struck by a louder one. Hooker followed it to a compound, stole goods from the property, sold them to a fence and received another lead.

By the time he looked at the clock, two hours had passed.

The mission he originally intended to test still had not begun.

That is what makes Hooker’s account significant. GTA VI’s traffic behavior, pedestrian reactions, criminal opportunities and police response appeared to feed naturally into one another—turning an ordinary trip across the map into an unscripted night of retaliation, robbery and pursuit.

Not a cutscene. Not the assigned mission. Just the world reacting.
