On this day, October 21, 1997, Warzone dropped “Fight for Justice” thru Victory Records.

Arriving just weeks after Raybeez’s passing, their final studio album carried his message of unity, loyalty & standing up for each other. Lower East Side roots! New York Hardcore heart!

A year shy of three decades later & wewe remember Raybeez and Todd Youth! Rest in Peace! Turn it up today! Salute to the Legends!

The Hurt Process – Drive By Monologue (Original Victory Records Promo, 2004)

This is the sound of the mid-2000s UK-to-US post-hardcore bridge. Drive By Monologue is where, The Hurt Process perfected that razor-sharp balance of grinding dual-vocal screams and soaring emo melodies. Hailing from the UK and landing stateside via Victory Records in 2004, this record captures the exact tension of the Warped Tour era. Brash, emotional, and relentlessly catchy. This specific promotional copy is a piece of industry history, complete with the “Not For Sale” stamp and the iconic Derek Hess artwork that defined the look of the scene back then. Whether it was in your discman or on a shared MySpace player, these tracks still hit with that same 2004 urgency.

I’ve come to realize that a lot of my favorite albums were distributed by @victoryrecords . VERY turbulent history and reputation, but you can’t argue that their releases are peak.

Dead to Fall performing "Prologue" and "Memory" in Milwaukee.

I used to own a 1986 Ford Econoline Conversion van. It didn't have a CD player, so I recorded Dead to Fall's "Everything I Touch Falls to Pieces" on one side of a cassette and Endthisday's "Sleeping Beneath the Ashes of Creation" on the other side. It quickly got stuck in the tape deck, so that's about all I listened to for months. This record will always hold a spot in my heart.

Filmed by Amy Simpson, footage captured from the original Hi8 source tape.
