I have no idea who this person is, but I designed that book cover and I really appreciate this superstar taking the time to hold my book. 📚 “Sex on Murder Island” (Book 2 of the Luella Van Horn series) written by comedian, Jo Firestone. POV: Your local IKEA pays your local artists.

These murals were painted live at this year’s Art Therapy festival. Every muralist was paid the day they painted. The finished murals are currently on display inside IKEA Costa Mesa for a limited time before they go to their giveaway winners.

Stay until the end for the community wall. Real anonymous responses to this year’s hero question: what do you think people get wrong about you?

This is what an authentic retail partnership looks like. Not a sponsorship sticker. Real compensation, real visibility, real follow-through.

IKEA Costa Mesa knows ball when it comes to creating safe spaces for artists.

Millennials know this song 😏 And these are the people behind the campaign you’ve been seeing all month.

John leads creative direction at Artist Safespaces. He takes the campaign and builds the full visual identity, from the flyer and run of show to the slap-up stickers, the studio kit, and the photo booth design. Ex @tacobell.

Sam is the founder and executive director. Ex @vitaminwaterofficial, ex @paciolan. She’s the visionary behind the marketing campaign and runs all socials, marketing, and press.

This year’s theme is Understanding. The tagline is “We’re all on the same maze.” The festival was built for the adults who never got a space like this. The ones still figuring out how to put the anxiety somewhere that isn’t a phone.

Last year, our upstairs programming was a fireside panel on mental health with @unitedwayoc and @211orangecounty, hosted by @angelylivescostamesa. It was one of the most grounded conversations we’ve had at the festival, mental health professionals talking honestly about anxiety, access, grounding tips, and what showing up for community looks like.

This year we’re changing the format.

The upstairs space becomes a Speakeasy Poetry and Arts Mixer, led by @marcusomariprp. 11 AM to 12 is an artist mixer with a DJ set, casual hangout, come up and chat with other artists. 12 to 1 is a curated poetry set with audience conversation woven in. Not a panel, not a performance, somewhere in between.

Same space, same intention, different way in. Last year we brought the experts to the conversation. This year we’re handing the mic to the artists.
