“CYLINDER TWO is pleased to present <Tremor>, the first solo exhibition in Asia by Melanie Loureiro (b.1994, Germany) Loureiro overlaps or densely arranges the forms of creatures and plants across the pictorial surface, rendering their magnified cross sections with precise detail. Her paintings draw the viewer into the world of things that take root and grow upon a terrain that appears still, and reorganise the scale of human vision according to the standards of living organisms. The monumental scale of the subjects presented in her paintings does not function as a declaration of domina-ton, but instead as a gesture for entering their world, and at the centre of the world Melanie reconstructs lies a firm recognition of the interconnectedness among living beings. (…)”
