365 days ago my whole world changed shape …
How has 1 year flown past! I still can’t believe you’ve reached this milestone… you’re a whole 1 year my baby boy 🩵 Daddy and I are so blessed you chose us to be your parents. You have lit our lives up and injected our hearts with so much love we feel we could burst with joy! I love waking up to your cheeky smile and hearing your laughter …it’s the most healing sound! I could watch you sleeping all night long, sniffing your hair and breathing in your breath as I did so many sleepless nights when you were just a few months old sleeping on my chest feeding through the night from my body … your baby smell gives me life! … literal Oxytocin hits! Happy First Birthday my Sweetheart🩵🐯 (ps. It was 20 September … however life lifes and I’m only posting this now laugh😹)

And well done Daddy @vijesh_patel and me for supporting each other through the high cortisol, low sleep, mood changes, juggling work parenting and relationships, fears, tears and everything inbetween while raising the coolest little human ❤️

Mummy and Daddy on a dancing date 🪩❤️‍🔥

At 10 months post partum, it felt so good to put something cute on, feel my sexy feminine divine self and dance my but off until my feet ached a little ❤️

What a beautiful day out for a killer @innervisions_official event . Sexy sets from @ame & @trikkmusic , @this_is_jamiie , @ivory.it and my faves @ryx & @jimi_jules. Unfortunately couldn’t stay for @dixon_ !

Best part was that we were literally 15 minutes from home which was the cherry on top 🍒 close enough to collect baby from his gran and do bedtime 🐯🩵

Happy Father’s Day my Love 🩵 what a first @vijesh_patel !!
It has been beautiful watching you with our baby boy. You have slipped into this new role effortlessly. I have never seen you more present and confident and never felt you happier and more at peace. I was definitely in alignment with Universe when I told you I wanted to have your children at 6am watching the sunrise after 2 weeks of dating 😹❤️

2016…
A year of reaching new heights in my career and personal life. Of great love and loss. A year of celebration, reconnection and making new connections with family and friends. A year of great change and discomfort, the start of deep transformation! I felt I lost myself, redefined myself and learned to deeply trust myself.
2016 was an evolution ✨💖✨

Part 2:
Friday, 48 hrs after my waters broke we found meconium. This was one of my non negotiables ie straight to hospital. After I had a little cry, taking a few moments to let go of my plans of a water birth at home, and flow with what was happening, I packed a few too many bags and we headed to hospital.

I was triaged and admitted for an induction. Hubby recreated a beautiful birth space for me…ambient lighting , electric candles, essential oils, my playlist on speakers , affirmation cards in eyesight and a mini snack areas with all my essentials : homemade energy balls, fruit, nuts, Indian savoury snacks and electrolytes!

As an epidural was not in my birth plan… all I had for pain / “sensation management “ was gas and air. @thepositivebirthcompany hypnobirthing tools, helped me through “Cinto” induced labour. Then it was time for the gas and air! I remember one of my besties told me to imagine I’m at a rave, take a big suck and breath and move with the contractions to the music!

10am Saturday, after rushing and raving the night, OBGYNs advised me to have an epidural as dilation wasn’t progressing and they feared that I would not have the energy to push if I continued which meant I might need a C- Section. I wanted to be present in my body and have a vaginal birth… so hubby and I had a huddle and talk … what was my goal and how do I get there? I had a choice at that point and it might be that later on that choice might be out of my reach.

I agreed to an epidural. I remember my entire body releasing into ease and softness. Within a few hours I had dilated completely and the rest gave me the mental and physical strength to push our beautiful baby boy into the world Earth side.

Huge appreciation for the brilliant birth team at West Middlesex Hospital and my incredible Home Birth Team @westmidhomebirthteam . I truly felt blessed with how supported I was 🙏🏽

I share this because I feel women should trust their bodies, and make informed decisions that feel aligned and not out of fear. It wasn’t how I planned, instead it was a beautiful birth that felt rooted in intention, that flowed with change and was powerful!

My birth story Part 1 :
It was the end of week 40…
the birth pool was inflated and tested! I was drinking numerous cups of rasberry leaf tea @hotteamama , having homemade date milk, oats with banana and dates for breakfast , date loaf/cake as dessert! I had just completed a session of acupuncture to stimulate / bring on contractions hoping to bring on labour. I was sniffing clary sage oil morning noon and night rubbing it into my wrists, my chest and nostrils! The Pilates ball was in the lounge ready for me to roll back and forth, right and left, round and round getting baby into position and my pelvis warmed up! I was doing everything possible to bring labour on naturally.

On 41 weeks exactly …
a glimmer of contractions started… felt like light period cramps … could this be it I thought with excitement drawing the curtains lighting candles and bringing myself into an Oxytocon induced state… now it was good vibes only! Waiting patiently watching feel good 80s and 90s classics from Dirty Dancing to Clueless, eating well being cuddled and having my hair played with.

On 41 weeks 1 day…
silence! No contractions…and then my waters broke. Relaxing on the couch and I lean forward next thing I feel like I’ve peed myself … warm liquid just keeps flowing! Having advice and support from my home birth team, weighing up the pros and cons and calculating my risks I decided to wait it out at home and continue plans of having my dream home birth. @vijesh_patel spoon fed me cloves of garlic with honey every 4 hours to reduce risk of infection. Hubby took me for a slow walk to get some fresh air, walking on cobblestones/ stairs can help to get baby in the right birth position and help things progress. Despite family being worried, loved ones having their own advice, and medical guidelines , I knew what I wanted based on the extensive research and preparation I had done over the last 10 months. I needed to calm my nervous system and trust in myself and my own intuition. ✨🙏🏽✨
