Today I met up with Viktor of Forsmán and Duft for my first ever portrait photoshoot. We were outside for the most part, in nasty Icelandic fall weather. Viktor is an easy person to photograph. The photos will hopefully be useful to him in future projects. The experience has already been useful to me.

Dr. Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen, scholar, reporter (and guide at @reykjavikmusicwalk) published a great report on the hugely active black metal scene in Iceland. I've had the pleasure to photograph three of the acts he highlights in his article, @forsmaniceland, @vafurlogi and @nexioniceland. Hopefully the rest will follow sooner than later. EXPERIENCE PROGRAM, BEYOUNG THE GATES🔥 We have expanded the BeYoung the Gates program this year! 🔥MEET&GREET: MAURICIO WEIMAR🔥 Meet Brazilian–Norwegian metal drummer and multi-instrumentalist Mauricio Weimar. Talk drumming, ask questions and have records or other items signed. 🔥BEYOND THE SCREAM: GROWING UP IN THE SCENE TODAY🔥 This panel features young voices sharing what it’s like to grow up in the metal scene today, driven by a shared passion to shape and carry forth the future of metal. The panel: Oda (panelist), 34, born and raised in Florø. During her youth in the 2000s, there were not many female metal vocalists. Those who inspired her to play in a band were mainly male-dominated groups, but also bands like Kittie, Otep, Animal Alpha, and L7. In Florø, she was a vocalist in a metal band, and founding member of Utflod. Viktor (panelist) is a young musician and organizer in Reykjavík. He has been active in the scene since 2017, including playing in countless bands. He’s most known as the bassist and frontman in FORSMÁN. And, he also co-organizes Icelands oldest metal festival, Andkristni. Mirko (panelist) is 19 years ola and from Serbia. He has played the guitar for 12 years, and is currently the frontman and lead guitarist of Dreadmaw, a band which he started with his friend from middle school after coming to Norway. Jessica (moderator) is a music PR specialist and founder of Future Cult PR, with 20 years of experience spanning both sides of the industry - as an artist and a publicist. She spent 7 years as Head of PR at Season of Mist’s EU office, working with artists such as Heilung, Abbath and Rotting Christ. 🔥MARKET🔥 Kosa “Churchscythe”🔥 Get your own tattoo or illustration painted on you.
