“The Ugly Stepsister”

Year: 2025
Director: Emilie Blichfeldt
Based on: Aschenputtel, folk tale by the Brothers Grimm
Genre: Dark Comedy, Satirical Horror

In a twisted retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale, Elvira dreams of winning the affection of Prince Julian and escaping poverty alongside her family. Living in a kingdom where beauty is treated as a form of social currency, she finds herself constantly overshadowed by her stunning stepsister Agnes. Determined to compete for the prince’s attention, Elvira undergoes a series of painful and increasingly grotesque transformations encouraged by her ambitious mother. As the pursuit of perfection consumes her, the line between beauty and horror begins to disappear, exposing the cruelty hidden beneath fairy tale fantasies.
