To empower BIPOC wine professionals with equitable opportunities to access, grow, and thrive as visible leaders in the Canadian wine industry.

It felt like a crazy small world when Simone and I found out that not only does their family make one of my favourite natural wines @podericellario_wines, but that they grew up 20 minutes down the road from where I studied in Piedmont. Both queer organizers now living in Toronto, we decided to harness the spirit of Italian chaos and hospitality and host a somewhat impromptu aperitivo in the name of raising a glass (and some funds!) for @vin.equity, an organization that nurtures and promotes inclusion and equity within the wine industry.

Simone @sippingrapejuice curated a wine list featuring all queer and BIPOC producers, and I (Sara @eat.out.supperclub) made a buffet style aperi-cena spread. At the end of the day we donated $250 to @vin.equity (representing just over 20% of all sales).

A big thank you to @grapewitches and @livelaugh__lo for generously lending us your patio for the last outdoor event of the season, @offfieldfilm for capturing all these beautiful photos, @ataleasoldaswine for running the bar, and of course to everyone who came, ate, drank, chatted, and supported us and this cause.

Vinequity aims to ensure that people who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Colour (including BIPOC people who identify as LGBTQ+ or are living with a disability) that work in all aspects of the wine industry are given equitable treatment and opportunities to access, grow and thrive as visible leaders in the Canadian Wine Industry
