I wrote a letter to Reya the day I learned she passed. It was just a way for me to process my feelings and everything I felt that day. I had no intention of sharing it, but Reya's mom asked if I wanted to speak at her service so I ended up sharing to honor her and the memories from our friendship. It was heartwarming to have people I've never met tell me my words were beautiful. (Scroll to the end if you would like to read it, fyi I shared the non-explicit version at her service)

I'll always remember August 23rd as the day my life changed forever. The last 3 weeks allowed me to reflect on my perspective of life. All I have to say is: I hope you hold your friends and loved ones tighter. I hope you reach out and make an effort to catch up even when life gets busy. I'm grateful that Reya and I didn't leave with unsaid words, resentments, or regrets. But I also wish we had more time together. I'd do anything to have one more conversation with her and to laugh together one last time.

You never think it'll happen to you until it does. Forgive. Let go. Love loudly. Laugh until you cry. If someone crosses your mind, send a text. If you have time to talk, call. Take the risk. Live fearlessly and without regrets. Let yourself feel the good and the pain. Appreciate your people and hold them tight while they're still here, because one day they might not be. And just as Reya always told me: fuck it and live your life. 💜

What a blessing to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. If you were friends with her through me, thank you for loving her as much as I did. I love you Reya, and I'll miss you for the rest of my life 🕊️

Though I technically graduated in August, I waited 10 months to walk the stage so I could participate in commencement with my cohort and it was so worth it 🩵 Thank you to family and friends who have supported me through my education and career goals. I feel extremely lucky to say I landed my dream job out of grad school. I get to wake up and do what I love everyday by providing mental health care to children/adolescents at Kaiser, (where I also started my mental health journey!) and that's something I'll never take for granted. Additionally, thank you to those who came out to celebrate! (I couldn't tag everyone in my post😭) Special thank you to my cousin @kathm4rtin who planned the entire party and all my family members who helped make the day incredible! There ain't no party like a Filipino party‼️🇵🇭🦅 NO MORE TUITION, MORE LIQUOR‼️🥂🗣️🗣️ #MasteredIt

25! what the helly!! 😮 because i'm in denial about my age, i decided to do a nostalgic theme 🎀

this year feels different. it's not just because of my fully developed frontal lobe, but it's the celebration of new beginnings: a new job, a new apartment, and entering a new stage of adulthood with the people i grew up with. if you drove all the way out to the dusty central valley to celebrate me, thank you for showing up when it truly matters. i'm beyond grateful to have so many people in my life that love and care for me, and it's something i'll never take for granted 🤍🤍🦋🦋

btw.. i remembered the cake 😎💪🏼
