What an honor to have our 2023 Grounded Wine Co. Cabernet announced as the BEST VALUE out of the 522 California Cabernets tasted in the recent Wine Spectator vintage report. A huge thank you to the team at @wine_spectator for this recognition!

Judgment of Singapore ~ October 2026 ~ 50 years after the Judgment of Paris, once again a Napa Cab Sav has finished top ahead of its French counterparts; whilst Burgundy whites dominated the top 5 for the Chardonnay flight 🍷🇸🇬

Following the mostly forgettable ‘22 vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon/Franc wines in Napa Valley, ‘23 repaid vintners with interest, offering a long, cool, steady growing season that resulted in a thoroughly delicious set of wines. Among the most fun-to-taste vintages of all the vintages in all the regions I’ve covered…

You can get the full read in my annual Cabernet tasting report, arriving in mailboxes now.

Cheers! 🍇

P.S. No AI was used to write my report or this caption…just sayin’.

Vine Hill Ranch, Oakville 🍇

The 2007 movie, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” has always been an aspirational movie. I love everything about it. The music, the colors, the style, aesthetic.

The train robbery scene in particular has always come to mind when I am out in the vineyards during harvest. The dark, the light, the movement and the intensity. For years I have wanted to showcase harvest in this way, so here it is.

If you haven’t seen the movie, do yourself a favor 🍿
