VineToBar Almonds and Pink Himalayan Dark Chocolate Squares (Miscellaneous) [Vegan, GF] Taste: The "Chardonnay Marc" gimmick actually translates into a genuinely excellent, unique flavor profile. It uses a 65% dark chocolate base mixed with WellVine (upcycled grape skins and seeds from Chardonnay production), roasted California almonds, and a hit of pink salt. It has a good dark chocolate flavor; it is rich, the salt actually comes through, and it is not too bitter. 8.5/10 Nutrition: A serving of 3 squares (30g) is 160 calories, providing 2g of protein, 4g of fiber, 8g of added sugar, and 7.5g of saturated fat. Ingredient Quality: Pristine. It relies on real food (unsweetened chocolate, sugar, cocoa butter, almonds, salt, and grape marc) and actively upcycles agricultural waste from the wine industry. It is highly sustainable and clean. It has roughly the same calorie density as any standard chocolate bar. 7/10 Cost: A standard 2.8 oz bar will cost you $6.99 (or $9.99 if you buy the 3.5 oz pouch of chocolate-covered almonds). If you compare that to a standard Lindt or Ghirardelli bar ($3.00 to $4.00), it feels very expensive. However, even if you compare it to other clean-ingredient, functional chocolates on the market (like Hu Kitchen or Lily's), $7.00 is still expensive. 4/10 Overall: 7/10 Would I Buy Again? Not at this price.

Wine and Chocolate…a classic pairing. This last Thursday our wine instructor, Mike Conti, teamed up with one of the founders of Vine to Bar chocolates, Ralph Jerome, to show how both products can be so interconnected. We served a menu to celebrate how chocolate had so much to savory dishes. For me, being able to make an authentic Mexican mole sauce and finishing it with the true dark was amazing. It’s what conquering cuisine is all about.
