Last Tuesday, we brought together AFC Members and industry leaders for an inspiring evening of conversation, connection, and community. These words are hard to write, but… Goodbye… After ten years in the fashion industry, we have made the very difficult decision to bring Denimsmith to a close. Denimsmith has always been more than just a brand - it has been a mum & dad dream, built with care, passion, and pride. So, this decision has not been made lightly. With personal changes, we have had to make this sacrifice and refocus our priorities at home. To our incredible industry partners, collaborators and dedicated team - Thank you. Your craftsmanship, commitment, and support have been the backbone of our journey. The success we’ve shared would not have been possible without your talent and belief in us. To our loyal customers and the friends we’ve been fortunate enough to meet along the way, we are deeply grateful. You embraced our vision, allowed us to create, and gave us the privilege of being part of the Australian fashion industry. Without your support, this chapter would never have been written. Our mission was always simple: to make great jeans, locally and ethically, while celebrating the skill and artistry of our industry. We are proud of how far we’ve come together. AFC members and Australian fashion community gathered together to launch the AFC’s Victorian TCF Manufacturing Report: Future Jobs Technology and Economic Growth, in partnership with EPSON. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, industry and community is essential to transform the sector from decline to growth and achieve a prosperous sustainable future. We heard from Hanh Le, the second generation at Vince Clothing dedicated to producing high-quality garments with a highly skilled female powered workforce for 30 years. With the Minister for Jobs & Industry, Women, and First Nations & Treaty, the Hon Natalie Hutchins MP, manufacturers and industry leaders in attendance, the report’s findings sparked meaningful discussions about driving sustainable growth, creating high-value jobs, and embracing cutting-edge technology. We’re excited to launch the Victorian TCF Manufacturing Report: Future Jobs, Technology and Economic Growth, in partnership with EPSON. The Minister for Jobs & Industry, Women, and First Nations & Treaty, the Hon Natalie Hutchins MP, joined us in support of our industry. The Report identifies five key areas to drive productivity, innovation and higher wage growth. Recommendations include: 1. Adding TCF manufacturing as a priority 2. Strengthening government procurement policies to increase local content in uniforms, workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts; 3. Developing a revitalised TCF skills and training program to full workforce skill gaps 4. Co-investment in advanced technology and jobs of the future for a sustainable, circular clothing economy 5.
