Lion Portrait Drawing

Using a striking photograph by @vinisum as my guide, I want to do it justice by translating its raw power into a drawing with Derwent pencils.
The portrait focuses on a young lion's intense gaze, where I shall use layers of ochre, terracotta and earthy hues to model this Leo.
Each stroke of the pencil will define the wild and untamed texture of the mane, creating a quiet authority and untamed spirit.

🎨✨ Just finished this detailed elephant trunk drawing and I’m obsessed with the textures!
From the wrinkles to the subtle shading, every stroke was a labor of love. 🐘💙
Truly amazed by how much character and emotion an elephant’s trunk can hold.

Drawing Zebra’s Fur & Eye ✏️🦓

Starting with a light sketch, I outlined the zebra’s eye first—getting the almond shape and highlights just right.
For the fur, I used quick, tapered strokes, following the natural flow of the stripes.
The key? Varying pressure—some lines are sharp and dark, others soft and faint to mimic depth. I built up layers slowly, blending shadows for a 3D effect.
The hardest part? The tiny details! Each stripe has subtle texture, I added fine hairs and uneven edges to avoid a "flat" look. Patience is everything!
Final touch: intensifying the contrast around the eye to make it POP. And there you have it—an almost realistic zebra portrait!

Which part do you think is the most challenging? 👀
