It feels like today marks the unofficial end of summer… which feels slightly strange after spending most of it complaining about the 40-degree heat. 😂☀️

Looking back though, it’s been a pretty special one.

My youngest finally joining his big brother at school (a huge, slightly emotional landmark moment.) Beach days and ridiculously fresh, delicious food on the Isle of Wight. Family time up North, exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline and even spotting dolphins 🐬. Woodland walks, den building and kids disappearing into the trees for hours.

We scattered Dad’s ashes at his favourite lake spot on his birthday, with my siblings — one of those moments that was both incredibly sad and incredibly special.

There were endless BBQs with friends, country breaks, reunions with old friends, far too many late-night garden chats (often because it was simply too hot to go inside!), and somehow finding time to create a new salmon roulade/dip/recipe obsession along the way. 😂

I’ve squeezed in as much contrast therapy as possible, spent a lot more time swimming and finally feel like I’m getting somewhere with my front crawl. 🏊‍♀️

And in between it all, we’ve been testing out a Range Rover vs Defender… and I’m officially stuck. 👀 If you’ve had either, which one would you choose?

A summer of big milestones, little moments, good food, family, friends, grief, laughter, fresh air, cold plunges, long chats and a lot of memories made.

And after all that complaining about the heat… I’m actually a little sad to see you go. ❤️

But then again… autumn is in my DNA. 🍂 I’m a Libra after all. ⚖️✨

So, September… I’m ready!

Had the absolute pleasure of being invited to go along to @vintersoldistillery first Maker’s Night where they were showcasing their new limited edition Putney Garden Gin, made using botanicals grown by the community. Such a cool idea and such a tasty gin. I also now have my hands on this very limited gin and will be creating some English garden themed cocktails to compliment it. Definitely check them out if you haven’t already. Stay Thirsty #neatdrinks #vintersol #gin #putney #distillery

Calling all chefs, mixologists, bartenders, distillers and any other culinary enthusiasts. I have a load of hot banana peppers and cayenne peppers that are getting ready for harvesting and instead of eating them I want to turn them into drinks. Now the easy thing to do would be to chop em up and chuck em in a bottle of booze but I want your expert minds to come up with something great and challenging and I’ll do my best to do it (obviously I don’t have a proper restaurant kitchen, so I’ll do my best) If the first ones are already ready I imagine I’m going to have a fair few to collect over the next few months so will definitely be able to try out a bunch of options. SO DO YOUR WORST!!!! This is definitely me trying to create greatness through combined creative minds and not me being lazy and getting you guys to come up with my content. London Borough of Wandsworth 01

Meet London-based contemporary aquavit experimentalist asha Bladt-Cohen, distilling Scandinavian spirits in London.

Vintersol founder Sasha Bladt-Cohen has spent the last seven years completely reshaping his career, from working as a corporate intelligence analyst to boldly pursuing a personal passion, turning what began as a hobby in spirit distillation into his own business.

Vintersol focuses on Aquavit (Akvavit), a deeply traditional Nordic spirit commonly found in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. It is typically served ice cold and neat, and is rarely used in cocktails.

In Sweden, drinking Aquavit is often accompanied by singing before everyone raises a glass together. And when you take a sip, you are expected to maintain eye contact with the person you’re drinking with. For Sasha, Aquavit is not simply a spirit, but a way of creating connection between people.

But what he wants to do is not just preserve tradition.
From experimenting with a small copper still in rural France to building his own distillery in London, Sasha has been trying to redefine Aquavit, bringing this traditional Nordic spirit into contemporary city life in a more open and modern way.

Alongside distilling, he also runs cocktail-making and tasting workshops, helping more people understand flavour, culture, and the role drinking can play in human connection.

In a city where so much moves quickly, Vintersol feels like an attempt to slow things down, to gather people around a table, share a drink, hold eye contact, and create moments of connection through ritual, flavour, and conversation.

Ok last part I swear, just needed to get that off my chest. So here are my recommendations for the smaller companies. These guys are all working their butts off to bring you the best products possible. Sure they’re a little less convenient than picking them up from your local supermarket and they might cost a little more, but they’re amazing products and deserve to be the ones on the shelves in the shops and the only way to get that done is for you to give them a try instead of grabbing another disgusting Buzzball. Please recommend any other companies I’ve missed that you think deserve some more recognition, I’m up for trying anything 😉 Stay Thirsty #neatdrinks #buzzballz #rtd #cannedcocktailreview #cocktail

Our April read is here and this month we are doing things a little differently 👀📚

Our April book has been selected as part of a special collaboration! We will be reading A Murder in Eight Cocktails by @kellymullenauthor, and to mark the occasion we are beginning the month with a special evening alongside the author herself.

On Thursday 9th April we will be hosting a tasting experience inspired by the novel in collaboration with @centurybooksuk, @penguinrandomhouse, and @vintersoldistillery. Guests will join us for an evening of cocktails and conversation as Kelly shares the inspiration behind the story, with a Q&A and a tasting inspired by the drinks featured throughout the book.

Your ticket includes a signed copy of A Murder in Eight Cocktails, which will become our read for the month ahead!

Places are limited, so if you would like to join us for this special opening event we recommend booking early.
Full details and tickets are available via the link in bio or at www.cocktailandbookclub.com

If you cannot make it to this event, do not worry. We will still be hosting our usual Cocktail & Book Club meet up at the end of April to talk about the book together

I cannot wait to start April with this one 🍸📖
