I went to Burning Man and somewhere in the dust, I got Lost & Found. ✨

My first Burning Man. My first time camping. My first festival of this size. And somehow, one of the most epic adventures of my life.

A moment that didn’t feel real. Riding through the playa felt like living inside a video game, or wandering through a real life dream. There was art, music, dust, chaos, beauty, exhaustion, laughter, strangers who became friends, and a camp full of people who somehow started feeling like family.

And then there were the moments when it was just me.

One of my fellow virgins at camp gave me my Burner name: Lost & Found. I’m constantly getting lost, but somehow I always manage to find my way. At one point I was literally lost, alone, in the rain, wondering if I was going to have to abandon my bike or if I’d even figure out how to get back to camp.

I found my way.

And somewhere along the way, I think I found a little more of myself too.

Burning Man challenged me in ways I expected and ways I absolutely did not. I like being clean. I like comfort. I like knowing where the hell I am. And this experience asked me to let go of all of that—to work, participate, contribute, rely on community, and also strongly validated my own knowing that when I needed to, I could rely on myself.

I showed up. I participated. I contributed. I got dirty. I got tired. I got lost. I found my way home.

And I fell completely in love with it.

Life has taken me down plenty of roads where I didn’t quite know where I was going. But somehow, eventually, I find my way. Sometimes I even find a new piece of myself along the way.

So now, back in default— I’m feeling dustier, braver, deeply grateful for my new Burner fam, and already missing a place that sometimes felt impossible while I was standing in it.

See you in the dust. 🔥)’(

I’m still continuing to reflect this week on my last SFGMC @sfgmc show (at least my last show for a good while). Getting to take part as a specialty dancer over the past couple of concerts, especially in getting to play these different characters, has been an absolute treat.

This was our finale, an arrangement of Dolly Parton’s “A Lil’ Ole Bitty Pissant Country Place”, from her musical “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”.

I’m the tradesman (lol) in the orange hard hat.

After taking the spring concert off, I was so excited to be back onstage with @sfgmc!
There was so much joy and even tears as we wished some of our singers and staff well wishes on their next chapters.
It’s super exciting to welcome our new CEO, @flashlane!

Even Phantom of the Opera legend & friend of the chorus, @lavromusic, stopped by to say hi!!

Happy Pride! I am filled with so much love & joy!
