POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Apple orchard Escapade,
She mustered the courage,
To find herself some solace,
Amidst the harvests and the
gold rimmed brimming positivity,
Amongst the soft sounds of nature,
One fateful Friday,
She decided as the streaks of the morning sun,
Bathed her in a soft healing light,
That was where her grief would finally be put to rest,
Packing her picnic basket,
Dawning the veils of joy,
She hummed a tune under her breath,
Found herself by a beautiful cottage,
Next to a gentle creek,
Resting her burdened spirit in the lap of cosmos,
Chrysanthemum promises were made just for her,
“ Don’t you dare miss me sorrow anymore”
Now it’s only the vows of living for myself,
Steeped in the magical elixir of survival,
I shall be intoxicated by them!
Penning the promise in her journal,
Reading from her favourite book,
She heard the chirping of birds,
The burnished hues had so much to teach her,
A good student was in the waiting,
She would excel in it all!

I only know how to hold my breath
For a few seconds as I adjust what
The past moments had me feeling
My hands seeking a firm grip on future
Ever-slippering

There is a light inside that never fades
A voice so soft it never gives up
The gentlest of whispers rising to meet me
I listen to the rhythm of trees breathing
I am held with the same embers of life

Within is a landscape holding
The mortal and immortal side
Can we not touch it?

Autumn Whiskey Blues

Why is the only thing in view
You and your angel eyes
As I’m lost for a while
In these autumn whiskey blues

🌏 thanks to my FLP partner this month @viridian.mind for the inspiring line "hope falls from the horizon;" and to #firstlinepoets @emmajanepoetry @cate_mcminn for curating this group ⚘️

..........................................................................................

i.

some days are harder to hold,

slipping away from fingertips;

as last bits of light fade away,

away from time’s loose grip.

moments there will

to linger longer

with memories traced,

where mind’s eye

shall ever see

them each embraced.

ii.

some days we long to outrun,

spent with haste

til sandman comes,

to whisk away from pain inflicted

til soul feels less numb.

those days sit more heavy

than one soul can bear,

trapped in what feels

too long to keep

one soul ensnared.

iii.

what can one do

but look further still,

toward where sky

meets dawn

reaching from its till.

there "hope falls from the horizon"

at tomorrow’s gate, where pray,

time shall gift another day

upon clean slate.

🌎Closing out the week, with my first @firstlinepoets poem of March.

The group is run by @emmajanepoetry and the Angelou subgroup curated by @cate_mcminn.

My partner for this poem is @viridian.mind and she provides the first line of the poem:
“Before the end of the world”.

Suspension of one’s disbelief is required here. I know that none of us will live to see the day billions of years into the future that the sun becomes a supernova.

But in this case, I’m with my created muse Caterina. With one last dance before earth and the sun meet their end. In each others arms.

As I was thinking about the first line, I had “Until The End Of The World “ from U2’s 1991 album, “Achtung, Baby” on the mind. That’s why it’s mentioned in the poem.

All of this is wrapped around the idea that I don’t want to spend the last days of my life alone.

At the very least, I want to feel someone’s passionate embrace at least once in my lifetime.

My July submission for @firstlinepoets , curated by @emmajanepoetry and @cate_mcminn. This month, I was partnered with @viridian.mind and used her prompts, “I cry rubies,” and
“my heart skips a beat.”
*
You have bitten my soul,
and now I am growing rabid.
I cry rubies,
my heart skips a beat,
fantasies of possibilities
fan the fever.
Free me
by kissing me,
let me wake
to know if you are a curse
or a cure.
